How many do you need to complete the event writs? Still seems way too expensive in my mind.
Not when you can simply right-click at the NPC vendor and "Buy Multiple"... up to 999 at a timeMartiniDaniels wrote: »

Or you could use "buy multiple".

No actually. Last time I went to a merchant for manganese, I right clicked by mistake and got the option to type in the amount I wanted to buy, one shot
The number of guildies who don’t know that NPC’s sell nickel or that they sell all the recipes for the writs is staggering.
It’s a bit of a shame that ZOS don’t make this clear, or have a specific character providing all the easy to buy materials alongside the Impressario to help people complete these writs. Or they could give the various crafting writ enablers some seasonal New Life attire and dialogue to explain things in more detail while introducing players to the crafting system. A bit of effort and imagination could have been used here.
I get that part of the point of the charity writs must be to reduce the levels of certain materials in players’ hands, but if they’re also about introducing people to crafting, then not explaining anything and enabling players to get ripped off is a crappy way of doing things.
Uhh, and that would accomplish... what, exactly? Can't craft anything at Breda's pavilion, in any case.VaranisArano wrote: »That being said, if they wanted to make things easier for players, they could put an NPC in Breda's pavilion who sells the furnishing recipes and nickel.

You can already buy both the style materials and the furnishing recipes at NPC vendors in crafting areas, what more is needed?

It addresses the complaint I was discussing that ZOS didn't make it obvious enough for non-crafters that NPCs sell recipes and style mats.
I mean, when i got my first writ this season, I double checked the NPCs at Breda's pavilion to see if any of them sold the recipes for the crates because I think I know that recipe, but I couldn't remember. They didn't, so my next stop will be those crafting NPCs when I collect more writs.
But you are correct - full handholding mode requires a crafting pavilion attached to Breda's

While I agree with the style mats, that could be made clearer, every single New Life writ quest I've picked up not only tells me that vendors sell the receipt, it tells me exactly which one (blacksmith, clothier or woodcrafter) sells it. That part isn't a fault on ZOS' part but a learn2read issue on the players.
When I get in the game tonight, if I get any receipts, I'll try to remember to screen shot it.

Are you sure?
Sometimes it is.
Trying to charge 100g for something easily accessible, that vendors for 15g, seems like daylight robbery, to me.
30g, or 40g? OK.
Still taking advantage of the uninitiated, but still.
100g? Nope.
