So i went to get the crafting survey.. the rune stones geode gave me one runestone as i was full of inventory. So went to town to dump stuff... cameback and the survey was gone!

✭✭✭✭✭I would suggest one of three things. Combinations of such work well.
1. Check inventory before going after surveys.
2. Subscribe and get the crafting bag and do not have to worry about it.
3. By the banker. It is a one time charge and essentially means one does not have to worry about the first two as you can always empty your inventory into the bank. Well, I guess as long as you have space in your bank.
3.a. Make sure to have inventory in your bank.

TempPlayer✭✭✭✭✭Also, don't respond to dungeon group check when you are working on a survey node. It may immediately pull you into a dungeon and you can kiss the rest of the node goodbye.4

No, really, I don´t have it at the moment (am role-playing in 'very casual' mode for fun right now), but it makes a gargantuan difference if you are in any way interested in crafting. Auto-loot everything and every once in a while open the craft bag for the pleasant christmas present of 200000 alkahest to sell to NPCs.
And don´t worry about stupidity. I´ve deleted my gold Chudan and Zaan masks along with Vicious Ophidian, Infallible Aether etc... tons of other stuff too. Maybe some day I´ll learn to just take breaks instead of deleting characters
'Accidentally' murdering characters in quests 'cause I just click click click through dialogue choices is slightly sucky too. Mostly for them, but still. Daggerfall covenant werewolf duke (maybe that´s a spoiler, but it´s been 5 years, if you don´t know by now...) is a classic. Someone dies in that quest if I´m just slightly stressed when doing the dialogue.

✭This happens to me quite a bit because I run 15 characters through the daily JC writs & most of those characters are mules with almost full inventories. At least the low level mats that I miss out on aren't really what I am doing the writs for.NA Server [PC] -- Mostly Ebonheart Pact, Mostly.1 -

✭✭✭assuming you dont want to destroy anything in your inventory you can also mail someone( or a second account) some stuff out of your inventory to make room. Then just have them send it back to you later.1 -

Too late now of course but if you have the portable merchant, you could sell some stuff to them to make room, then buy it back later from the Buyback tab. It's cheesy emergency banking space, but if you're caught out in the wild and your bank is full...1 -

Lady_Linux✭✭✭✭✭new toon, level 19 now i think.... only been doing the daily dungeon and battleground and crafting and then i'm off with the surveys. Nice thing about doing the surveys is that on a new toon you have an excuse to run all over the place to snatch up lore books and low hanging skyshards..... i'm level 19 and halfway between 6 and 7 for the mages guild. I guess i'll keep going like this until i hit level 10 mages guild... though once i hit 50 i'll have 570 ish cp so i'll need that mages guild 10 for my healing nightblade...I simply must protest. There are no Penguin avatars for me to use in the forums.

✭✭✭✭✭I'm surprised that happened because I had the same problem once, went to a bank to deposit some stuff, came back and the node was still there. Is it maybe because I stayed on the same map? It was an enchanter survey in Glenumbra and I went to Daggerfall to deposit some stuff then came back (via wayshrine both ways) and the nodes I hadn't gotten to yet were still there.
In general though I agree that the best approach is to clear out your inventory a bit before doing surveys. I have a dedicated crafter and his routine (on days when I have time for it all) is: pick up mail from hirelings and guild store, do daily crafting writs, open boxes, go to the bank and deposit anything which goes in there and list new items on guild store, go home and deposit anything I'm keeping in storage chests, then head out and do crafting surveys, then back to the bank to deposit again.
(I keep blacksmithing, woodworking, clothier and jeweller materials in his inventory, alchemy, enchanting, provisioning, racial styles and furnishing in the bank and rare style materials and upgrade materials in a housing chest.)
I only run into problems with inventory space when I've been skipping steps for several days and end up with either lots of materials building up (easy to solve) or lots of surveys/master writs/recipes which aren't selling on the guild store.PC EU player | She/her/hers | PAWS (Positively Against Wrip-off Stuff) - Say No to Crown Crates!
