A Query in regards to 'Account Sharing'

I've read the TOS article in regards to the sharing of accounts & account information between two different individuals being prohibited.

However, I would like to know if such a rule would be punishable in the situation where my partner has setup an account with not bought version of the game (Originally to play a free weekend, back when ZOS was doing that.) & I wished to buy her the game on that account & setup a years worth of subscription as a Christmas gift?

I'd send in two support tickets first (one from your normal ESO account, one from her current free account) if you're planning on using your card information to purchase something on her account. Probably the best way to not get the transactions flagged as fraudulent or suspicious.

It would be best to, give her a nice card saying you are going to do just what you said. Then, have her log into her account, you use your credit card and pay for what you need to.

I am sure there is some way to gift this. But that process would more complicated since Gift Cards are no longer thing

There might be some concern with you using your credit card on her account. But i do know of relatives buying the game for each other. And one pair are married but kept their names.

It would honestly be so much easier if there was an option to gift her the digital collectors edition of the game along with the sub attached.

This was taken from the TOS. It does not expressly prohibit accounts sharing. It just indicates that accounts are no transferable. Meaning that if YOU give someone else access to your account you are solely responsible for their actions and that you are allowing them access to your personal information. So if you give access to someone and they get your account banned because they did something in game... then it's your fault.

Buying the game for someone else is not account sharing.

Account sharing would be if you 'gave' her a character slot on your account and let her log into it to play when you weren't, or logging into her account to play for her.

As long as she's the only one who plays on that account you're fine, regardless of whose card is used to pay for it.

I use my own cc to buy my SO her sub and expacs. Never had an issue. So long as it's not 1 account for 2 ppl.

They really need to make ESO 6mo+ tokens and Chapter Tokens that you purchase with $$ and can sell / send / gift to other players. That way you do it all on your end, payment on your end, all on your account, all your partner would do is accept it.

Not only would it clear up all the grey areas in this situation it would also decimate the gold bot market because the people out there that spend money on gold on shadey websites can instead purchase ESO+6mo tokens and sell them to other players cutting out the bot farmer markets. Sure Bot farmers could still do it in game, but not for $$, only for ESO+ tokens, which kinda destroys their business model.
