Is "critical surge" big deal for you stam sorcs?

Im new to the class and ive put together a build that i think will be fun to play. While looking over sorc abilities i found one called "critical surge" , which heals for around 3k every time critical damage is done. I havent found a spot for this ability in my build and i wanted to ask you wether this is actually used by sorcs, and how effective this skill really is. Some input on this would be appriciated.

Also, how much stam recovery is concidered the sweet spot for a stam sorc?

It's both useful and used, it's effective, find a spot for it, love it, cherish it and never let it go.

Its an excellent skill and the only "heal" I currently have on my magsorc build.

Crucially it is best employed with Boundless Storms (Hurricane) to take full advantage of its potential, otherwise it it may not perform for you in terms of healing.

With crit chance at well over 60%, in combination with Boundless storms, I am landing a crit every couple of seconds, this is a massive amount of healing and often enough to keep me alive soloing vet dungeons etc. A shield or a role dodge can take you out of trouble long enough for crits to start landing and your health to shoot back up.

Not to mention its an easy source of Major sorcery, buffing my spell damage by 20%, which is obviously pretty vital for dps.

Edit: Stam recovery required will depend on your build and skill rotation. Its variable. If you are running out of stam, then you may need to look carefully at your rotation, and/or increase stam recovery etc.

One of the most important abilities for stam sorc especially for solo play or in groups without healers.

Thanks for the writeup. So hurricane can actually crit and counts towards the healing? So this skill goes hand in hand with a high critchance build basically. I will have to integrate it into my build somehow and test it out!

It's the ability that keeps me alive most of the time, so i say it's damn useful. Also the major brutality helps.

I'm personally not using it, because there are other heals that I feel are better. Vigor and Rally are much better in my book. But I also only main Stamsorc in pvp, I can see how it's much better in Pve, it's the only heal I use for my magsorc which I use for Vma and I can't see it being worse on a Stamsorc.

Most potent solo healing skill in the game and you main dmg buff in PvE. Its base heal is about 3300 and crit to about 5500. Most reliable if you use 2-3 damage over time or fighting lots of adds in PvE. It does not work well in No-CP PvP, but I have been told that it is great in CP PvP. In terms of stamina recovery, around 1000 is sweet spot for PvE, and you would want to be around 1500-1700 in PvP.

Yes. I use it with Hurricane to maintain health, with Dark Deal slotted for additional healing / stam sustain. Also tri-pots if I get low on Magicka.

For soloing stuff (veteran maelstrom arena, soloing group dungeons etc), I have crit surge as my main heal on stam sorc and vigor as a 'oh sh..' - heal. I always keep crit surge up and I typically pair it with hurricane, some dots and some aoe. It is also my main way of getting the major brutality, so I can use stamina + health + weapon crit pots.

It's one of the reason for my stamsorc to exist, you simply don't need a healer most of the times and can be pretty tanky without any sacrifices to your build. Relevant from soloing stuff and doing 4man dungeons up to getting flawless conqueror and vet dlc trial achieves, speaking of pve.

Yes because you can keep damaging, get a heal, have major brutality up, and don't have to vigor as much or at all.

I main a stamsorc and I use Critical Surge its your lifeline. Before Rally got nerfed I used Critsurge and Rally in a duo, after the Nerf I kept Critsurge and put in Shuffle (which now got replaced by Bound Armaments).
Critsurge is amazing with Hurricane and Quick Cloak, since both can crit and if you fight multiple opponents they save your heal. In my book Critical Surge is waaay above Vigor and Rally in terms of healing.

And my Stamreg is at 2.2k btw which I need since I have no immunity to stuns or snares anymore.
Weapon Damage at 4.5k and critrate around 40%. Not really numbers that blow you away, but well, numbers are not the only way to generate DPS.
