I can't get the quest for my one character that is EP. How do I get the quest. I have checked the bank in Devon's Watch and gone to Ebonheart but no luck.

Have you used that character to get one of the chapter inn rooms? Each character can only get one free room. If so, make another (temp) EP character to get the room in Ebonheart. You don't lose the room if you delete the character that acquired it.

I was confused about acquiring inn rooms, too. What I found out was that I had already done the "A Friend in Need" quest, so it didn't seem that I had to repeat it. All I had to do was go to the room in question and purchase it. I don't know if there are achievement requirements. I've done Cadwell's gold, and I purchased my Rimmen inn after finishing the story quest.

If this is a fresh character and you haven't done the quest. . . I don't know!

This character is my last character created and I looked into the quest history and could not find the quest a friend in need.

I also went to the location of the EP free house but could not find anyone to get the room from. How can you tell if you already have the free home? There is no free house in the EP area that I have. I have one in the other two areas with my other characters.

There's a free inn room in Ebonheart, Stonefalls (the Ebony Flask Inn) for EP people. It's a bit confusing because this isn't the first big city (or main crafting zone) that you get to, unlike with the two other factions.

As above, just speak to the lady outside the door to the room. Either you have to do the quest or you can just lie and promise that you will furnish it.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Like I said before. I went to Ebonheart and there was no one there to get the room from. I also checked the bank for the quest in the first city.

Will go there one more time and try it.

The quest is no longer called "A Friend in Need" but rather "A Room to Spare." If you have done this quest before to get one of the chapter inn rooms, then you can't get the inn room in EP for free with that character. You can, however, preview the room and buy it with gold. So, if the option to purchase the room with gold is available while previewing the inn room, then you've already done that quest on that character.

ETA: If she's not standing outside the door to the inn room, then you've already done that quest on that character. You can still purchase it for 1,000 gold or do the quest with another EP character.

the price is 3000 gold. If I did the quest where is the room? This character is EP. Can you do the quest somewhere else if you are EP?

Ah, sorry about the incorrect price. I haven't actually bought any inn rooms, I've just gotten them for free.

If you haven't already done "A Friend in Need" or the quest that replaced it "A Room to Spare," then the quest giver should be standing right outside the door to the inn room, which is located in the Ebony Flask on the second floor, in Ebonheart in Stonefalls.

The character must be EP and not have completed the housing intro quest, which is now "A Room to Spare."

    Hope this helps!

EDIT: If you are EP, you can only do the quest in Stonefalls at the Ebony Flask OR in one of the Chapters. If you did the quest, say, in Rimmen in Elsweyr, then you cannot do it again in Stonefalls to get the room for free. Your only options would be to complete the quest in Stonefalls on another EP character or buy it with gold.

Figure it doesn't hurt to ask. Does the inn room show up in your purchased house list? If not which other inn rooms do show up in the list?

I believe the inn rooms do show up under Collections, good idea! It’s late and I’m not logged in or I’d check for you.

I’m trying to remember how it goes, I screwed up by opening something and then could only get the room in the zone I was in at the time, this was not on my main but two of my alts, Sorry I can’t remember more.

You don't need to add a new character. Go to the crown store, and go to quest starters. You will see the quest there (it's free). Read the letter, and it will give you the quest. If it is not the room you want, then disband the quest and go back to the crown store and try again.

Alternatively just keep doing the quests and the crown store starter until you get the house you want, or all of them.

    That's what worked for me.

I’m thinking that maybe I got something from the level up rewards about the housing quest. I wanted the one in Summerset but I opened it in Daggerfall, so when I went to Summerset the NPCs was there, but I had no option to purchase that one.

This post made me think that perhaps the inn room in either Vvardenfell or Summerset was claimed by the OP, so the one in EP could not.

OP, are you going to Ebonheart? It's not located in Davon's Watch, which is the first town you get to in Stonefalls, but rather it's located in Ebonheart, at the Ebony Flask Inn. It's on the second floor. If she's not there, then you've gotten your free inn room for that EP character in one of the chapters - St. Delyn's, Golden Gryphon, or Sugar Bowl.

Even if she's not there, the room will be and you can enter it to preview it and purchase it for 3,000 gold.

If you get the quest start with your EP character, you can get the room there in the Ebony Flask in Ebonheart OR one of the inn rooms in the chapters. No need to keep obtaining and abandoning, as there's only those options. You can go to any one of those options if you have the quest and speak to her.

Now, it may be that if your EP character was created with a chapter, then the quest would point you to the free inn room in that chapter, but you can still go to Ebonheart and get the room there.

Ah...now this is interesting. It may be that if you do accept the quest from the crown store or from level-up - didn't know it was available from there since all of my characters had already done the quest prior to the level where it talks about housing and you get a choice of furniture (assuming that's the one that also offers the quest start).

If so, then it may direct (force?) you to the inn room related to when the character was created? So, if you created a character with Morrowind, then it would direct you to St. Delyn's and perhaps you can't get the one in the alliance zone. But, if you were to abandon that quest, then you could presumably just go to EP and get it.

I got the free inn room in Summerset with a pre-Morrowind character that had never done the quest. I didn't pick up the starter; I just went to the Golden Gryphon and talked to her.

    Again, for the OP:

    1) make sure you're at the Ebony Flask inn in Ebonheart. She's on the second floor.

    2) don't pick up the quest starter from the CS; if you have it, then abandon it, as it's not needed to talk to her.

    3) if she's not there, then you've either completed that quest in one of the chapters OR your character is glitched, in which case you should submit a ticket.

    4) you should check to see if you can still buy the room for gold; the room will be there regardless of whether you've completed the quest already as inn rooms are always available to purchase with gold provided the character has completed "A Room to Spare" (or it's previous incarnation "A Friend in Need"). Which means that if you can't even purchase the inn room, then you haven't done the quest already, which would seem to mean your character is glitched.
