In-game Dungeon / Trials Guide

wanders_the_swamps
I would find it very useful if there was an in-game dungeon / trials guide in ESO integrated into the UI that describes the core mechanics of the bosses at least. Maybe just a model of the boss with what abilities the bosses will use and its effects.

I normally look up on dungeon guides online before entering one for the first time. I just thought it might be a good idea if there was an in-game ready reference.

Most of the times when I don't have the time to look at mechanics videos, I just go in blindly and react to cues during the fight, I learn it eventually but sometimes we clear it without even knowing what happens. For example I have pugged ICP vet plenty times but never knew the actual mechanics of the abomination boss fight until I finally looked it up on youtube.

I just feel it would be helpful to know beforehand what to expect and whether certain AOE effects can be blocked instead of dodge rolling, etc..

Thoughts?

Some newish content has some NPCs telling you the mechanics as they are occurring.

However, it is not appropriate for Zos to spell out exactly what needs to be done for every aspect of the fight. They would they not be providing the best information and the detail you describe is teaching player the basics of gameplay that they should know before the enter dungeons.

Nah that’s too much hand holding in my opinion. If you pay attention you can normally figure it out through hints from the NPC’s or the gameplay leading up to the fights.

If you're on PC, Xynode has a addon that let's you see his "All about Mechanics" YouTube series in game.

If you're asking for the in-game UI to do your hand holding for you, then no. I disagree that should be in game. Mainly because it would be abused as hell in PvP, and fights that are already lengthy with TTK higher than it's been in a long while, this would make it far more so.

I hear the argument already...."They could separate that from PvP and keep it PvE only"

Maybe they could, but this is Zos, and after 6 years I would think that players have learned by now that Zos does not separate PvP from PvE.

If your on PC, Xynodes addon is the best you can get. If you're on console, you can watch on your phone and hop in voice chat to explain mechanics.

+1 for the Xynode add on. Very useful when your whole group is stuck.

However, nothing beats a patient and supportive fellow player (or players) in voice chat who can appreciate that it might take more than one go to get it right. Learning how to conquer a dungeon with a group is one of the real pleasures in the game. Understanding how a boss fight goes and getting to grips with the different phases can be really satisfying.

    Yes sir.

My first vet Scalecaller clear came in a pug with a brand new tank who was just hitting 300 CP.

The last fight was a bit brutal, and we had 2 healers rage quit...but the other DD and myself stuck it out with the tank, figured out standing between the one shot area to be able to quickly move to one side was pretty effective, and we downed it in the very next attempt. Zaan helmets for everyone!!

Still to this day, the most rewarding dungeon I've ever run. All it took was a little patience. Something severely lacking these days...

Thanks! I do refer to Xynode's channel . I didn't know there was add on for it. I'll check it out.

Not good idea, it will be too easy. Even if at this moment you need just google any trial/dungeon

I do understand what everyone is saying. There was a time when I could spend hours with our guild group doing dungeons and raids, figuring things out and yes I totally get the feeling of satisfaction when we figure it out and clear them. I have been there.

Now I'm at a place where I can only play when I can and cannot commit to organised group's progression timings.

I'm restricted to pugging. I am very patient when doing dungeons , esp when doing it first time I know there is a learning curve and I don't mind wiping few times when learning. It's not the case with everyone, some end up leaving and we wait in queue.

I am used to pugs and that's why I try to prepare myself first before new encounters so at least I can do my part and not cause frustration to the group. For now @Kel 's suggestion on Xynode add-on sounds good. Going with that 🍻
