Maintenance for the week of April 6:
• ESO Store and Account System for maintenance – April 8, 9:00AM EDT (13:00 UTC) - 6:00PM EDT (22:00 UTC)
We are currently investigating connection issues some players are having on the European megaservers. We will update as new information becomes available.

Why am I the only one that can never seem to get the image URL thing to work correctly?

I have tried to get the Image URL thing to work on several occasions. I just can't seem to figure it out.

Just type IMG in front of the link that you want to use. Afterwords type the same thing at the end but put a / in front of the I. Also put the IMG letters within brackets.

You are trying to link a page not an image. There is also a image drop down tab right above the text box. You can put your link there.

At least tell us what you're doing to get pictures here?

I go to https://imgur.com/upload and upload a screenshot.
Then I mouse over the uploaded screenshot and click 'COPY'
Next I click the picture icon when I'm posting and paste that link but adding .jpg to the end

    This is the result:

Type [ i m g ] with no spaces. I put the spaces there so they could be seen in the text box.

You just need to start Your picture link with proper command or just click picture option in editor You also need to include information about type of the file and the end of the link if it's not included automatically yet still required ( like .png , .jpg etc.). It's not complicated as You see many people is capable to link pictures easily. It has to be that way so the forum editor knows You're linking the picture and displays it as such. Make sure You're linking actual picture link though not the whohe site link. if You'll use quote option on the post of anyone who linked the picture on forum You'll see how they did that.

Your link: http s://i.fizban.fi/gallery/index.php?/category/album-3medium-19 is to a library/album/folder of pictures
From there you need to click on the picture u want to link here
Then mouse over it and right-click and select copy image address
    Then you paste that here

    Example:
Link is now http s://i.fizban.fi/gallery/_data/i/upload/2018/02/11/20180211174718-54d3eaf1-me.png after clicking a picture from the album and copying the address

@SocialAssassin problem with the 1st link You wanted to post as a picture is that You're tried to post whole website gallery link not the actual pictures. If You would print screen that gallery and send link of that it would've worked like that

its important that the link allows for deep linking AND has an image format - so at the end of the link there needs to be an image format code otherwise it doesnt seem to work

In most browsers you can right-click on an image and select "copy image address" or something similar from the drop-down menu. This will work on most websites. The address should end in some image file extension (.jpg, .gif, .png). If you forget how to do it and need to look it up again, Google for "embed image with BBcode."

When all else fails, click "Quote" on a forum post that looks like what you are trying to achieve, and study the code to see how they did it.

Link needs to be to an image file, not a web page hosting the image. Most image hosting sites such as Imgur will link to the page by default. I think this is where most people stumble.

If you want to link to the picture, right-click it and select "copy image address" or similar. If you want to make sure you've got the actual image, you can also try to open the image in a new tab and then copy the address. I think you can also select the "bbcode" link and it will fully format it in a way that works on the forums, i.e. with the [ IMG ] tags at the start and end.

Or, instead of making 4 posts in a row, you can try editing the first one until you get it right. Also, you can preview before posting so you don't post gibberish.

You don't post screenshots from PC directly on the forums. You first need to put them on some hosting service so you can link to them. I'm guessing it's the same on PS4, assuming you can use the browser to upload screenshots, otherwise you need to get the pictures off the console and post them from some other device.

In addition to the excellent advice above, there's a odd alternative to using an image hosting site for stuff like screenshots saved to your computer. Some of the forums here, like bug reports, will allow you to post images saved on your computer. This generates an image link that you can use to post on the forum categories that don't allow for that.

    Steps
    1. Open a draft discussion in a forum category that allows you to upload images.
    2. Upload your image. It should generate a unique [img]link for you. 3. Copy the image link. 4. Save that draft. Ignore it. You don't want to post it since you only needed to generate the image link. 5. Paste the image link in whatever post you like. That's the method I used for https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/441706/murkmire-forum-bingo[/img]

I have been using imgur and all of a sudden I either forgot how to use it? or Imgur isn't working anymore? I don't why forums make it so complicated to post pictures.

The forum prefers you host the picture because of storage. if every picture here on the forum was uploaded to the server that the forum is on, it would be 10 times as large in data storage needed.
The forums would lag like the EU pc server is doing.

Key to know is this: the end of you image url should end with the file name and its file type extension.
    example: http://www.random_url.com/picture.gif

See how the url ends in .gif?

Other file extensions that are for pictures are:
    .jpg
    .png

So if your url doesn't end in that. It wont work.

The great thing about Imgur is that you can copy the BBCode that links to the image, conveniently provided to the right of the image (along with a bunch of others), and just paste it into the forum message.

For me, this is the easiest way. I don't have to mess with the forum software or hand code anything.
