My mind is not what is used to be but I think the announcement has always come in January.

Zos is probably telling us know when that will happen to hold off the constant flow of threads asking. Yet I expect people will still create those same threads.

Not exactly. Morrowind was announced in January, but ZOS waited until late in March to announce Summerset even though everyone new about it because of dataminers. I believe they were planning to do the same move this year (later announcement so the hype has less chances to die out) but the chapter was datamined once again and they made the right call of officially announcing it in January instead of having us wait months for an official reveal again.

Now it's only a matter of waiting the data-mining.

It that it would make sense we ere told about Morrowind early and Summerset late. Morrowind marked a change in content delivery as it was the first chapter. After that they probably went back to their standard of not discussing the next update until the last update has settled in. Their standard MO.

That method probably be lost with the current plans of tying all updates for the year into one story. Since dungeons come first they already have to give up some of the idea for the story when talking about the first DLC.

In the end, we find out when we find out.

Untill it's not the PERFORMANCE CHAPTER I'm not interested.
I'm done with this game because of ZOS pushing us into Vengeance, because they don't know how to fix Cyrodiil.

In the end, we find out when we find out.

Morrowind also came after what looked like a period of severely reduced DLC releases. We went from mixed content updates like Orsinium and Thieves Guild to the first DLC which was just dungeons (Shadows of the Hist) then One Tamriel instead of a DLC and then the housing release in place of another DLC. Players were starting to wonder what was going on and where most of the effort was going since a lot of the people who would normally be involved in making DLC wouldn't be making balance changes for One Tamriel or new UI for housing (and all the initial houses and furnishings were re-used assets).

So it made sense to announce it as early as possible and to make a big fuss about how exciting it was, to help off-set the worry that we were getting less and less new content.

You realize most companies across most industries announce when they're going to unveil new products. That's how you get your announcement to reach more people... surprise announcements would be pointless, stupid as you would call it.

There's nothing stupid about wanting your customer base to know when new information will be available about your products.

I swear some people hate just to hate. It's a good thing you don't work in marketing anywhere, because you would be out of a job in the snap of a finger. I would argue it's not ZOS who's stupid.... but I won't say who actually is for fear of getting in trouble on the forums ;)

Hmm. Good that it will be relatively early. I mean, it has to be with the new weird "let's tie everything in together" thing they are doing.

Fingers crossed for story mode for all dungeons coming this year. Probably won't, but the demand is high and they'd be stupid not to do it. It might actually get someone like me to buy the DLC dungeons.

I'm more concerned about the patch notes from the forthcoming Dungeon DLC update. If they again take a sledgehammer approach to combat skills, I know I am one of the ones that will not be here for the next Chapter.

As it is, I am barely logging in now with the mess they made with the U23 and U24 patches to combat. Incentive is definitely low now as 11 out of the 12 regular raid members (I am last left) have already given up on the game as a result of those patches.

And how in this LIFE you would know you have to watch something to know the release dates if they don't tell us?

You mean no advise from ZOS at all, no ZOS going to Las Vegas, QuakeCon, E3, etc. and we just one day open TESO website and voila! "Look! A new DLC?"

How we're supposed to know the release day of something if they don't tell us in advance?

Again, surprise, surprise in the morning when you wake up?

They kind of have to reveal it early when they do the year long story like elsweyr

For summerset they waited for after the first dlc since they werent connected

For morrowinnd it was homestead so they didnt have to keep hype as they would a dlc since it was a free update
