Is it possible to rebuild Cyrodiil populations?

Today's patch if it truly fixes the memory leak that has been plaguing PS4 many will be back.
Yes it really was a memory leak not our hardware. lol

Probably not since the game hasn’t seen a fresh take on PvP since BGs originally came out. Personally I’d like to see the three banner war come to an end and a new PvP DLC replace the old content.

At this point in the games life.... I don't think so. It will be very hard to get the level of competition we had 2-3 years ago

Well like others have said, the biggest showstopper is the performance That needs to be taken care of before it’s even worth having a conversation IMO.

After that, first impressions count for a lot and I’m not convinced the intro quest to Cyrodiil does enough to set new bloods on their way. The game should hold your hand a little more to ensure the player doesn’t become frustrated, confused or bored. Like.. have it highlight on the maps “recommended” battles to join where your faction has a decent chance of winning. Giving players a few positive encounters where they don’t get stomped and have a chance to absorb tactics and so forth would be beneficial. This ‘buff’ would last for a number of hours before it is disabled.

Performance very big yes, second me a group of experienced PVP players on Xbox EU actively went out recruiting in a new PVP guild, got a good trader, hunted for lower CP players and 810CP with no PVP experience bring them in, very much focus on the positive aspects of you cannot do wrong you can only improve, lets have a laugh, join our discord we help you farming crafting its all good. And I works we have full groups all day long.

I think most experienced players focus on zerg bashing in all forms that requires typing and go small scale. While if some of the more expienced players took like 1 or 2 evenings a week out of their time to pick up randoms show them how its done.

This will be key to the population. The people not the game and its performance lol.

Gratz Dude, PvP needs more people like you

The only thing that will fix Cyrodiil is fixing the lag and the massive fps drops.

They are going to have to rebuild the game from the ground up. If they could patch their way out of this mess it would have been cleaned up literally years ago.

As other posters have pointed out, those of us who play daily log off during prime time now....we have to. We play much less on the weekends now as well. ZOS' lack of action is literally driving us out of the game.

When I can enter cyrodiil and do anything, then I might compelled to try to play it again. Until then I log in maybe to finish collecting indrik berries during events. I only got 1 to go.

You're correct Tequila. We know they have a plan to get us there, who knows how long it'll take to get there or how well all the optimizations will even work. So should we sit idly by until they do?

We know ZOS has a plan to improve performance? Don't intend on being snarky, I haven't played much since the spring and legit want to know if ZOS has actually announced something aside from the generic, "we are committed to improving PvP..." they've been using for the past 4 years or so.

Performance issues aside, we once had a much larger PvP community when the game was more enjoyable to actually play. The constant nerfs and changes to character abilities are annoying enough, they've gone so far that it's just too easy for average players to be carried by gear sets and high health builds, which do not make for fun fights.
Make Rush of Agony "Monsters only." People should not be consecutively crowd controlled in a PvP setting. Period.

Admittedly when that road map of improvements first came out, I just kind of glossed over most of it but going back and re-reading it, it's going to be an ambitious year for them. I dislike that it's going to take a year to get them up and going but knowing how small of a company they are, and the past track record with major updates, I understand the why of it. Considering the life span of EQ and Wow it seems likely Eso can survive it.

The one thing that will bring back population is to fix the performance problems.

This ^^^ as the servers become more stable, players will be more willing to hop back into pvp. The problem now is that players, myself included, are dealing with insane lag, crashes every 10 minutes, and random load screens that are either infinite, leading people to force quit and restart the game, or by the time you get out, you’re dead.

It’s not really enjoyable to play cyro anymore, especially when the game is throwing so many obstacles at you that you can’t really control.

Server stability >> more people will be inclined to play pvp >>> people will play in pvp longer >>> new leaders will emerge and the populations will begin to increase once again. At least that’s what I think would happen, in theory.

Let me start off by stating that I hope to avoid negative one liners here, let's also avoid faction lock bashing, or throwing around terms like "pvpdoor" and "zerglings", tactics are tactics whether you like them or not, please be constructive with the tools that we have been given in-game. Is it possible that if people(hopefully from all factions) with leadership abilities start recruiting folks for weekly excursions(possibly working into more often), people that can objectively teach tactics, proper siege formations on keep doors, that it might improve populations? We all know pve and pvp performance is lackluster but I also know there are good majority of people that just play it through anyway. I kind of feel that what Cyrodiil has lost the most are objective leaders, they've mostly been replaced with people that have personal vendetta's against specific factions or people. Thoughts? Let's hear them!

when i couldn't drop in and help my alliance by taking resources solo (IN A TIMELY MANNER) i lost interest. did the zerging and small group thing...not that fun anymore.

id like to be able to help without having to group all of the time.

    Thanks for the link.

I'll say it is a plan. I'll also say I've heard this before, even down to the same language. They made AoEs like Blazing Spear more "efficient" by halving the ticks (and thus nerfing it by halving the Burning Light procs). I'm sure these little measures are more efficient, but this is akin to tearing one page out of War and Peace: the performance problems are so much bigger that at the end of the day, it wont make a perceptible difference.

Players who have quit (quit, not taking breaks) rarely come back to the MMO they quit. Rebuilding will have to come from those who have taken a break and new players. Neither will stay long if the performance issues are not fixed before they make a concentrated effort to rebuild Cyrodiil. We will see if their one year road map for performance improvement actually works or is just another public speech that has no real effect.

A chapter dedicated to it would fix it with its own cinematic trailer

Who wants end game difficult trials? It’s for the 2-3% of hardcore trial players

PVP is the most fun thing for the average gamer

I'm trying out FF14 in the meantime while they figure things out. Hurts to say but I want people to know because I want ESO to improve because it is still my favorite MMO.

I would like to get people engaged but performance makes it hard with constant blue screens and lag.

FFXIV is a great game for PvE.

I'm telling you right now, though, the PvP is really really bad. If you think healing is overturned in ESO, just wait until you jump into FFXIV PvP.

I've played WoW, Neverwinter, Tera, Heroes of the Storm, of course ESO, among other MMO's, and I've always been decent to good at PvP.....except for FFXIV. ESO has far better balance.

So, fair warning. FFXIV is one of the best PvE experiences I've ever had....but the PvP is severely lacking.

Thanks for the heads up. Honestly at this point I just need a change of scenery. I've stood by this game for a long time. But at some point I had to wake up and see reality as it truly is. I hope that by me making a mature, level headed statement regarding why I am taking a break that it will encourage ZoS to fix what otherwise would be the MMO of a lifetime (imo of course).

And even if the PvP in FFXIV is broken, it still beats being unplayable.
    PvP needs more love.
