Why does the cat next to the fireplace in Alinor's crafting area change color?
That's it! This is definite proof that ESO happens during a Dragon Break. Nothing is completely real, reality itself is shifting, and several conflicting timelines are playing and replaying all at once! Tamrielic historians will record nothing of it, and nothing in the story matters to the canonical timeline of the Elder Scrolls series. It's all just a dramatic but temporary disruption in the fabric of metamagical space-time!
(Or, as a more likely but less interesting explanation, somebody just used the same random color spawn function as they did for other cats in the scenery, without realizing that this particular cat would be looked at every day by people doing their crafting writs there.)
Maybe it's not supposed to be the same one each time? I could easily imagine just random stray dogs and cats wandering around aimlessly throughout Tamriel.
The horse of the Imperial trader in front of the Alinor crafting complex changes colors all the time.
This was the one I was going to mention as well.
