I generally would like to be able to abandon it on my alts. Its obvious where to pick it up again if I wanted it. Simple poll if its something others wanted.

I picked this quest up on a alt when i didn't want to exactly. Completely my fault for clicking buttons so fast.

Couldn't drop it manually, so I submitted a ticket. After responding to the auto generated e-mail further explaining my wishes to drop the quest, the response was some generic answer about how you can manually drop quests from the Journal/quest tab. 🙄

Still don't understand why this can't be dropped like any other quest.

They should give us an option to skip story quest if we already did it with one character.

You don't even need to do it. For example if you clear the zones beforehand, then do the main quest, the gold & silver objectives will auto-complete: you pick from Cadwell's "diamond" and you can turn it right in.

That would still require me to do the quests. My intended point was I make a alternate character for a specific reason, example: pvp bomb or pve tank, and I dont want to do the quest. I dont like the quest hanging up there forever.

If not then yes, you should be able to drop any quest.

The pathway to do story line quests should be more obvious and variant of the quest icon, the journal should have a list of those to be completed, not have the use esowiki or an addon to try and figure out wtf this quest actually leads to.
I was the opposite, abandoned anything that wasn't a step toward gold.

I'm honestly surprised there are any no votes. There's no reason people with no intention of doing a quest should be forced to carry it around in their log. Even when I've had every intention full completion, I've often wished I could abandon it until I'm ready to do it. I prefer my quest log clean as I'm doing different things.

No; however, it shouldn't count toward your quest total.

I guess some of us have never understood the problem with having something kicking around in your log. (I remember the same discussions about Skyrim. "OMG, it's terrible, all these rumors I walk past make an entry in my quest log!" "So what?")

I suppose in this game there's a little bit of valid concern, with the 25 quest limit. But I'll never understand the "I must have a clean quest log" viewpoint. Sorry. /shrug

But even if it's the case that you don't care about something, how does it affect people who don't care? If people don't want to do a quest on their alts why are they forced to have it? Ignoring my preferences...the surprise that people are against this has nothing to do with thinking other people feel the way I do. It's that the OP wasn't asking for the quests to be removed, just that they can drop it. There's no impact on anyone who enjoys doing them.

Yes I'd like to be able to abandon any and all quests.

This proves to be quite annoying when I roll up alts during events and powerlevel them to 50. I have no intention of using them for anything but writs - and the funny thing is having these quests stuck in the log permanently actually creates a minor nuisance as a cycle through them. Sure it's only 1 extra button press... but it could be avoided entirely.

You don't even need to pick it up, once you defeat Molag Bal and you get the final rewards from Cadwell in the Harborage, you're immediately given the quest to speak to Cadwell again, and you can't abandon that one either.

I'm only going to finish it on my main for the achievement and the helmet. i don't really see a reason to do it on any other characters. Now if someday maybe there was a Caldwell's skill line you could get from completing the various parts ala the psijic order quest-line (minus the rift grind)...ahhhh yeah. :P

While I cannot speak for everyone I feel that I have a little ocd and in most games I prefer to have every task done and ticked off in their log.
My problem is sometimes when I log back in the quest is the one that’s set on active and that bothers me as it’s wasn’t the last thing I did yet it’s still keeps to somehow override the last quest line I was in the middle of.

I am one shy from the max possible character limit and have not been bothered by this. I don’t find an option in the poll for me to answer.

The main issue with this "quest" compared to others is the extreme length involved. The inability to abandon is likely intended to be a safety feature to ensure players don't lose what could be weeks or even months of progress for more casual players.

As an alternative suggestion, I'd say remove it completely from the quest journal and due to the scope of the quest, just apply it to the tab intended for the Cadwell quests that's already there. Basically just track the progress toward your "reward" on that particular tab. It's so unlike any other quest in the game that I don't feel it justifies a standard quest slot at all.

I think maybe the No voters don't realize that there is what is essentially a non-quest taking up room in the quest journal. When I first read the poll I was actually thinking about the silver/gold tab in the journal, thinking "just don't do them." Then I remembered the extra journal entry. If that isn't it, then there are some truly unreasonable people frequenting these forums.

Said no because there isn't a better option.
It should be account wide imo, something you can complete on one character and it doesn't show up on others.
