Just The Base Game And No DLCs?

lonegreywolf20ub17_ESO
This may seem like a weird question, but I'm gonna ask it anyway.

Is there a way to go back to an easier ESO? With all the DLCs released, it has made it almost overwhelming in what needs to be done. When you are in a beginner zone, you are inundated with someone wanting you to go do one of the DLCs, stuff like that. There is too much to learn it seems all at once.

Would it be better to just start a new account and only get the base version of the game and add DLCs as I complete content? Is there a way to just get the base game with no DLCs?

I have to agree that the number of aggressive talking quest givers has increased to ridiculous proportions. First it was just 'Comrade, a word' then 'dO yOu KnOw HoW lOnG i'Ve BeEn LoOkInG fOr YoU???' now 'Excuse me please I have a message for you' and 'Can you believe it??? Dragonzzz! In your own homeland!!!':expressionless::disappointed:

I wish ZOS would allow us to 'mute' quest givers or make those NPCs do nothing until you actually choose to accept the DLC starting quest from your Collections tab. Or they could just create one Adventure Board in the towns where you can pick up Quest starter notices that lead you to the DLC starting quests, instead of 6+ talking NPCs all over the place.

That said, I wouldn't start a new account just because of some annoying NPCs. All your achievements, collections, DLC unlocks would have to be unlocked again, not to mention your mats gold and cp levels.

Finish those quests and out of appreaciation quest giver npcs will shut up to make you happy.

As for your answer OP, get the base game and subscribe to eso+ when you want to do dlc content. Dlc are open to eso+ and chapters become open after a year. You can cancel sub anytime you want and can benefit double bank space craft bag etc. Better than buying them.

Where can I obtain just the base game? As what you described is what I am looking to do!

My main has done all the quests, for alts its an problem.
You can do the initial quest for Orcinium who takes 5-10 minutes and not take the forge mother follow up quest.
With the new system it will show up and you can always do it later.
Its the same with many of the others but some tend to stuck in quest list forever.

Why are you making multiple threads to ask the same question?
(and this isn't that weird double-post thing that often happens around here, it's a different thread with the same question, just worded differently.)

It seemed that people glossed over the question where I asked where to get the base game. They were answering the other stuff, but not that.

So I made that it's own thread. If there was a way to edit my post, I would do so.

I wouldn’t create a new account for it, but I agree it is overwhelming and confusing for a new player (and just annoying thereafter). I would like having access to DLCs to allow you to access them at will — being able to trigger a quest giver or similar. For that matter, I would like main questline stories to not trigger out of order too! NPC quest givers should only approach based on where you’re at in the main questline and for local emergencies (area specific quests not directly part of the main quest lines).

The nearest you can get is buying the Standard Edition, which now comes with Morrowind but that means you'll be forced to buy Morrowind so you won't get a quest to take you there.

But it seems like a lot of money to spend on avoiding some of the quest givers in the starter cities (especially if you're planning to buy DLC eventually). I agree they're annoying but that seems excessive.

Look in the upper left hand corner where it says "store." Standard edition is available there for 10 bucks.

Even without the dlc, the growing number of prologue quests is getting kind of ridiculous. And what's more immersion breaking than having Vanus Galerion appear for the Summerset prologue quest in the Daggerfall mages guild at the same time you're going there to talk to him for Messages Across Tamriel? They need to have an option to hide certain TYPES of quest markers until you're ready to do them. Because a new player coming into the game and going into a base game city and seeing all these other quests lying around that has them going to some far flung end of the world they haven't been to yet and being told to "get to Summerset/Elsweyr immediatley!" After completing them is confusing and irritating. Especially if they dont own that content. I get that it's basically promotional material, but at least give an option to disable or hide quest markers or givers.

The problem will be that the Standard Edition now includes Morrowind as part of the base game. Therefore the OP will start a new account in Morrowind's tutorial (which was actually REALLY good!), and still have to travel to reach the original game MQ.

Would be nice if they changed the quest giver icon above the heads of the DLC quest givers in the zones to indicate that its a DLC quest not one of the base game ones.

But I would not create a separate account for it, just take your time in the base game zones, if the character is offering you a DLC quest just abandon it or ignore it in your quest log till your ready to do it later to avoid having the quest giver shout out at you again.

Well that's as good as it's gonna get for him unless he wants to take his chances on Amazon where he'll pay more and it's not exactly clear what he'll actually get.

Right. When I bought ESO in June of 2018, they did still have the "vanilla" base game box and download. I however bought the Gold Box or Edition whatever, because it was a better value, and it didn't bother me that I would be starting a tutorial in a former chapter/now DLC. Since I had friends who played, I already knew how to get around not having immediate access to the original MQ....

I don't believe Amazon still has the vanilla base game for sale at all. Other outlets might, but they might not be as cheap or safe as buying from Amazon.

Doing the early main story quests and hearing about Abnur Tharn's betrayal and how we'll have to hunt him down, then heading into town and getting told he's got a letter for you and wants to meet up for a chat about his great idea to save the world. And then after that being sent to rescue him from Coldharbour where he's been imprisoned since the Soulburst.

Or all these flashy style and mount everywhere :>

Btw you can just mute dialogue and no more annoying noise, I don't like voice anyway, I prefer imagine them myself.
But with so many content, ofc it's gonna be confusing for new player.
The more confusing thing is the stupid way we start when we creat a new char : last chapter.
I've start at the middle-end of Summerset, and I was lost, Raz seem to know me, but I didn't know him, same for many npc.
I ear later then I've to port in older area to get the right start, but to late, I was spoiled from the story...

But hey, nothing is perfect ^^

^^ This. It's FAR easier to ignore a line of text in the middle of your screen (as I do enable subtitles) than it is to ignore some annoying NPC's VA for the 40 bajillionth time.

And I too hear the voices as I WANT (and sometimes expect) to hear them. It's my fantasy, my game I'm playing. I really dislike VA.

That too is problematic. Basically having any recurring characters be part of new content set after the main story. The open ended nature of the game makes keeping the order of timelines a mess and confusing for new players.
