I just want to start of by saying I feel sorry for Zos.

Yes I'm very well aware they have made loads of boo boos as of late, like nerfing things 50/60% and then calling it a rebalance.

But hey they are a new team and they are just learning, they are trying to make the overall community happy but in doing so they can often get the balance wrong.

They proved this when they started reverting some of the huge nerfs from 60% down to 30%

I'm sure in time things will improve, just now it's hard to see or believe with the state of the servers (EU one in particular)

However they have of late been posting lots of feedback and for that I feel we need to give them credit where it's due.

People that are saying the server is down more than its up is just not true, sure it might feel that way if you get home from work and you want to log into your favourite game and then you get login errors where you are unable to play, but normally within 2 hours things are working again.

Sure it's not great, in fact it sucks hard, but Zos are trying to fix this problem even if it feels to you like they are not.

I just think because of everything going horribly wrong lately that everyone has forgotten all the good they have done.

The new chapter this year was amazing, the new dungeons where fantastic, performance aside I feel the over all year got of to a great start.

I just want people to remember, not everything is bad, and I do believe in the near future things with improve ten fold, I mean it has to because if it stays the way it is they will not have many players left to play their game.

Please try and make this a positive post so that Zos know we do appreciate all the good they have done and that despite feeling hurt because of how bad things currently are we appreciate all the hard work they do for us.

Thank you Zos, I do hope you are able to fix things soon and make everyone happy again.

Thank you all for reading

As I've said on some other threads, I appreciate the regular communication about the fate of the Undaunted Event.

I would like to see regular communication about other major issues, particularly plans for addressing the PC/EU performance.

It's a lot easier to have sympathy for and confidence in ZOS when we aren't kept in the dark.

I agree. Having sympathy for problems they created, were aware of, and failed to fix for years however, nope. The improved communication is a plus, but I can't help but feel like it was only done in response to backlash as damage control. It's hard to remember the good when after 5+ years, things have gotten worse. The community has finally had enough crap and ZoS can't hide behind their band-aid fixes anymore, of course they are "gonna do better". The thing is, I feel like ESO has reached a tipping point where it HAS to be fixed or it will just fall apart.

How about this, when ZoS actually starts to fix things, deliver on their words and functions as a company should hosting a AAA title, I will think and feel different than I do now. I would rather respect them as a company than feel pity and sympathy.

A big +1 Kudos to ZoS for at least showing effort on the undaunted event, let's see how long it lasts. I believe in the people at ZoS, they are great IRL...I want to believe in the company too.

Just a reminder: they said "we have to communicate better, and we will" last November, so they started to get to there after 1 whole freakin' year.

I do not feel sorry for ZOS in the slightest. I do feel sorry for the players of the game, particularly the long term players who have put up with so much but still stuck around... Who have put up with so many BS changes in all areas of the game, and watched ZOS slowly change their tactics and attention from the players to the money their players can generate for them.

They do not try to fix anything... There are problems that have existed for years which they ignore... They don't mind taking our money but they don't listen to a word we say, despite the fact that we pay their wages. Things get worse and worse with each patch, there is no future upward spiral looming ahead, if the past few years are anything to go by, it is downhill all the way from here sadly.

This could be such a great game but it is ruined by greed and a severe lack of communication with their player base, and they do not deserve sympathy, nor praise, they need to realize that listening to their players, and treating the people who generate an income for them with much more respect will make the game better as a whole. I can't say I feel bad for them at all I'm afraid, rolling around in our hard earned cash rather than using it to improve servers and make much needed changes... Nope. No feeling sorry on my end

@NaomiHutt - while I applaud your intent, and do agree with you to some extent (since I absolutely do not have issues like others do - because I don't do group content or pvp) I have to tell you that you are not preaching to the choir here - you're preaching to the worst of the daedra....

I hope people will be kind - or at least no meaner than several others already - but I'm not sanguine about it. And I hope you have a thick skin.

This pretty much sums up my view, too. :(

Too many long standing bugs/issues simply ignored, changes made without notifications, changes made despite feedback requesting they not be made - there doesn't seem to be a single area of the game that has been unaffected by this apparently singular disregard of player/customer input. Issues reportedly fixed rarely are (Group Finder/Battlegrounds for example) or, when fixes are implemented, future patches/updates obliterate them and revert to a broken, earlier version. Meanwhile performance, particularly on pc-eu remains appalling, despite now demonstrably meaningless assurances earlier this year to the contrary.

In my many decades of life I have never encountered a product where both 'fitness for purpose' and 'of satisfactory quality' were both consistently conspicuous in their absence; in almost any other domain I can think of such results would have meant end of product or very possibly company extinction.

Quite disgraceful, really, so no feeling sorry for zos from me.

And it's such a pity - with so much potential and possibility this game absolutely did not have to degenerate to this awful state. :(

And, perhaps, if when they said they'd fixed something, it were actually fixed. GF I'm looking square at you.

Honestly, and I am repeating my self here, they need to get quit wasting resources on trying to change the meta every 3 months, and pour a whole heap of energy into bug fixes and addressing server issues. There is no corporate environment I can think of where the issues constantly plaguing the EU servers would not result in both the server contract being torn up and awarded to another provider, and the people responsible for the debacle at zos being marched out the door.

If you have nothing nice to say (type) I would rather you didn't say (type) nothing at all, we already have enough negative posts already on these forum's.

This is an appreciation post, if you don't appreciate anything they have done, that's fine but move on and post it under a different topic or create one of your own.

I don't want to have to read the same negative comments over and over which I've already seen under many other topics.

I do feel sorry for the many content creators in ZOS that have built the realm of Tamriel for us all to game in.

I don't feel sorry for the ZOS people that are involved in balancing combat or fixing combat related bugs... either the old team or the new team... they deserve a lot of the flack they are currently copping from the fanbase.

Thank you for the OP for creating this thread.

In my opinion Zenimax has created something special. A game unlike anything else.

I do enjoy ESO a lot. It has unique feel and very interesting and engaging combat system. And the lore, story and quests are something i like very much.

With 5 kids my playtime is really limited, but when i get to play, i feel like im sucked into a wondrous fantasy world. My favorite place is Vvardenfell.

And the thing i like the most is PVP. My kids say i get excited when i play PVP. And its true :-)

In general, saying nice things is important too.

    Keep up the good work!

You are always going to get both sides of an argument in life whether you want it or not. You cant go through life only dealing with people that agree with you.

As for the topic, this has been the worst year in ESO since i have been here. A lot has been done wrong and very little has been done right. Problems that have plagued the game for years have not been fixed. They butchered characters instead of doing the whole rework together leaving us with a big mess to play with. It makes a great money sink though.

There are things i like about ESO though which i have stated before and have nothing to do with the past year. Open and detailed world, great storylines, great lore, a crafting system that is actually useful. The distinct "character" of some of the NPCS in the game is the best ive seen in any game.

Somewhere in this mess is a great product dying to shine. It just needs the right kind of love and its not getting it in my opinion.

You take our frustration with the game personally( ive read your post in other threads). We get frustrated because we care about the game( most of us) and see the potential it has. If we didnt care, we would just leave and we definitely wouldnt be discussing it here on the forums.

    What do I appreciate?

I appreciate the game. It’s why I bother to come here and leave comments, in the hope it will continue to thrive and improve.

    What do I not appreciate?

A company that seems incapable of providing the working systems that I feel I am paying for. A company whose servers are down significantly more than an industry average (not including maintenance periods). A company whose server performance has been admitted to be bad for at least a year and yet has apparently done nothing to fix them. A company that doesn’t to my mind give a rat’s arse about fixing PC EU because PC NA is ‘killing it’. A company that is treating people who genuinely love its game, with total contempt. A company that thinks communication means just talking to its favourite streamers rather than its customers/players.

And because I am an adult, I can separate my feelings about ZOS the company from those about the people who work for it. I am sure they are all lovely. It’s their collective works I have issues with.

While I absolutely did like the Year of the Dragon, the story telling, the landscape/surroundings, I do not like to get thrown out of a trial twice or everything freezes while doing a dungeon run (and it froze for everyone, so it's not a client thing).
The whole backend, whether it's a database or infrastructure thing I don't know, definitely needs love.

I appreciate ZoS’s ineptness, I’ve got loads done around the house since their game is nearly unplayable...

    Obligatory TOS statement:
ZoS your game is broke af...

My opinion: you should fix it... or actually hire ppl who can... or carry more in house devs... or focus completely on game performance instead of obvious cash grabs..

@NaomiHutt in fairness you can't really expect to post a controversial topic with a view that clearly some disagree with on an open forum and expect silence from those who don't share your view. It's not a personal reflection on you, individually, nor disrespectful however you may choose to interpret such responses. Also, and with respect, the only posts you are Lord/Lady of are your own; there's more than enough forum redaction from moderators without expecting others to censor themselves in the face of such controversial and long-standing issues.

While I appreciate you'd like to publicly laud zos and have done so, others don't and won't and clearly with good reason.

Personally, I'd very much love to comment other than I have done but I simply cannot do so in the face of the reality that I have experienced in the almost 5 years I have played. I'm sorry if this fails to meet with your approval or etiquette criteria; there is an ignore feature with the forum so you don't have to read what I and others who may have a different view have written.

I don't have the time to play for the next few weeks or months, so I've given up my sub. When I come to the forums and see all the appalling changes that are made in the name of "balance", and price hikes in the store, which was never supposed to be there anyway, as was said at the beginning, I often wonder if it's really ever worth getting it back again.
