✭✭✭✭Surveys and research of all types (not just in this game) regularly target small numbers of people and can still provide very valuable information.

✭The only common theme I could see in the other thread about this, was that people purchased SOME but not ALL of the content this year... so maybe the questions are related to the viability of the, “year long story” model?

(i.e., what types of email you opted-in to receive from them when you set up your account?)

I didn't get a survey, but I don't remember what my email settings are. Typically, I choose to opt-out of marketing stuff on all of my online accounts, so if the option was available here, I probably opted-out of that kind of email here. So I wouldn't have received a survey because of that.

✭✭✭✭✭It doesn't surprise me that these surveys go out to a small selection of players. ZOS say there are 11 million ESO accounts, even if only 10% are active (and they only way to survey active accounts) that's over 1 million people. There's only so much data you can realistically analyse (and only so much you need for a represenative sample), especially since it sounds like some of the questions were open-ended so they'd have to go through the responses one at a time.
So they probably considered the minimum needed for a useful sample, and the maximum their analysts could get through in a reasonable time, what percentage of people are likely to respond and use that to work out a reasonable number to send it to.
Of course the question is whether that's a random sample or if they focused more on particular types of people, and who those are.
