Lol. Please elaborate how straightforward and plain Templar is to use?
Have you ever played one?
Also, what's inconvenient for you that comes from a Templar?
So true, remember templars righteous complaints on new matriarch heal because "its stronger than BoL"MartiniDaniels wrote: »Because templars must have everything in most usable and convenient form for them and in most irritating and inconvenient for their enemies.

I think every multi-toon player in this game have magplar because this was sure pick if you want to try healing, for years. Ok, "short" list:
- jabs - snares, heals, best aoe spammable in the game, best source to proc burning light, free minor protection
- piercing javelin - best ranged stun in the game, no comments
- toppling charge - hands down best gap closer in the game nothing even close to it
- spear shards - best ground aoe in the game
- empowering sweep - best spammable ultimate since U23
- vampire's bane - one of the few dots left worth using, grants free +10% to crit on both bars
- PL/PoTl - not most reliable of class burst abilities, but easiest to use
- eclipse - most annoying ability in the game
- jesus ray - best ranged execute and extremely easy to use and hard to avoid
- remembrance - no comments needed of how effective and easy to use and how irritating to opponents
- BoL/HTD - best burst heal
- cleansing ritual - best purge and very annoying to enemies
- rune - well, netch wins here, but after netch rune is easiest to use
What templar doesn't have? single target spammable, aoe root and HP% heal - last 2 things make templar PVE tanking not reliable
Other classes may be better then templar in many cases due to synergies with non-class abilities, with some item sets, with meta etc... but no other class have almost all possible things in the game in own toolkit with 1-button press to work.

Lol
What's everyone having a Templar because they wanted to try healing got to do with it? I see more good players on every other class than I do on Templar, because since D1 it's been a fair class to do alright on, but if you want to be right at the top on Templar, it's definitely not what you think.
P.S You can create a list like that for any class.
EDIT: The most crazy part is that almost everything you've mentioned has been nerfed, some multiple times.
