Gaining alliance xp during off peak.

Due to the timing difference of me being in the eu, but on the n.a. server, I am usually playing when most other players are offline.

I am looking to gain alliance xp I order to get vigor and caltrops on my low level alt. What do you guys suggest I do achieve this?

I usually do battlegrounds, but would like to know if there there are any other options available.

I am pretty useless at PvP.

Thanks.

Only thing you can do is look at the multiple campaigns and join the one with the most people in it. Sorry.

As an aside, I think its absolutely moronic that you still have to level PVP to get vigor. Especially when the server is so broken you get disconnected almost every time you get into anything above a medium sized battle in Cyrodiil. Maddening

You’re in luck, the game plays a lot better non-prime time. BGs or group pvp will get you there the fastest.
Looking for any guildies I used to play with:
    Havoc Warhammer - Alair
LoC EQ2 - Mayi and Iskiab
PRX and Tabula Rasa - Rift - Iskiab
Or anyone else I used to play games with in guilds I’ve forgotten

In Cyrodiil, soloing resources and repairing keeps are the two major ways you can always make AP even when there aren't fights going on.

Soloing resources might take some practice, but unless a player shows up to defend, its often just PVE against the guards. Generally, the tactic is to clear the tower of guards first, then kill the four flag guards so you can flip the flag. Do note that the guards will respawn if you take too long to flip the flag.

You can also run capture resource quests or scouting quests to make extra AP from doing this.

Repairing keep or resource walls is boring, takes a while, and will cost gold or AP to buy the repair kits, but it's also pretty much risk free if you pay attention to wear the fights are. Its a legit way to gain AP, and a lot of players running for emperor will repair to keep their hourly AP gain high. If this is your main method, I'd recommend going to a Cyrodiil delve and killing the boss to get the Blessing of War buff, a 20% increase to AP gained.

That being said, you'll probably make more AP in less time just losing at Battlegrounds. :)

I spent some time going by each keep that my faction held wandering around each wall checking to see if it needed repairing and using up gold and AP on repair kits. If you're in a keep that's being attacked and it's successfully defended, you'll get the defense tick for it. I got some good ones in a full, busy campaign tbh. Would always recommend going to a campaign where keeps are flipping regularly.

Then when I got bored with that (because it IS really boring even if it gets the job done) I took a more active approach, grabbed a resto staff, whacked some points into it so I could heal others and zapped around to resources & keeps that were either being attacked or about to be attacked - which would usually be called out in the chat by my faction - and spammed healing on my faction guys.

That's how I got vigor and caltrops!

Edit: I hate PvP too and hated that I had to go into Cyrodiil to level, but it was actually a lot more fun doing that than I thought it was. Especially once I got the resto staff. Perch on the wall and heal and shoot a bow. Die occasionally. Sometimes I think about going back in to get more levels just because. I mean, I'm never gonna be able to fight others, but hey, you can have a good time even without that.

@renne I actually enjoy PVP in Cyrodiil when I am there to PVP. My saltiness came from last week when I was trying to get a newer character vigor and the game crashed every time I got into a large battle. I thought it was annoying when you ride from one keep to another and find that you were just a little late. Then I experienced the joy of riding to that keep, getting into fun, large, long battle... and getting killed by the blue screen, only to restart and find the battle had ended. Was even better when that blue screen wrecked what was going to be a successful siege.

Back to the OP, someone else said it and I forgot, if you get into a group, you can get the XP you need quickly

Yeah, I remember one time (back when PS4 NA was slightly more stable when I did this levelling) when I had exactly this same issue. When I loaded back in, the other faction held the keep. I had to assume a bunch of my guys had the same crash I did. It does make you salty as hell, especially when you're within sight of your goal!

But yeah, even though I had fun, I don't like that you have to level PvP just to get vigor. If you HAVE to do that, then there should be more benefit in PvE in unlocking Assault and Support to that point, especially in the passives. Otherwise make those skill lines strictly PvP related (because PvPers should have their things too) and move the skills into another line, or have a PvE obtainable equivalent.

Yeah, but don't do it in peak hour, you all too often get "locked" in the delve.

Ah yeah, I had that happen once when I went back in to do the skyshards. Is there any way around that short of restarting?

Yes, but I find its really only time-effective if you are going to gain AP regularly for that hour. So I like it if I'm going to do a lot of repairs because it buffs the rather small amount of repair AP, but otherwise its rarely worth it for me to grab the buff unless I'm helping a guildmate push for emp. YMMV.

As Mr_Walker mentioned, there's a recent issue where you can get locked into the delve on a poplocked campaign, but it sounds like that won't be a problem at the times you play.

it's definitely a challenge to grind xp "off-hours"...

I'm a pvper, live in the p.s.t. zone, and during the last year started a group of toons over in the EU server...used xp pots from daily rewards and random battlegrounds to level 7 toons (at cp260 now)...

it's hard for me to get a battleground match before 11pm to 12am some weeknights...by the time I do make it in, I'm usually falling alseep...

haven't got a single battleground match yet this week (just 2 days)...just logging on and feeding horses...

I like pvping, but, to be honest, when I'm in cyrodiil during the week - I mostly pvdoor...

    slow way to make AP...

i make the majority of my AP during the weekends, when I can get on during server "primetime"...

you get a 20% AP buff for an hour (i think that's right) if you kill a cyrodiil delve boss...

make sure to check zone chat and ask if anyone has a group...

oh yeah - most definitely learn how to not suck at pvp...

unlike playing in primetime - there's no one to carry you...learn how to buff, shield and heal allies, make sure to rez allies, learn how to use siege (best way to take resources if your build isn't that strong)...learn how to not die...

    siege weapons have different uses...

folks mentioned it above, but, repair walls - just need to do it once to earn defensive "ticks"...

also, one benefit to playing off-hours as far as AP earning - low pop bonuses...that can really boost your AP payout (30% maybe?)...

Thanks everyone. What about the daily quests like scouting missions? Do they provide much (if any) alliance xp?

    Thanks.

I'm pretty sure you do. But you get it faster by grouping, sieging, defending, battling, etc. Is also good to pick up the quests that want you to take 3 farms or mines. Those are easy with 1-2 other players with you

You do not get it from other in-zone quests like ones you pick up from NPCs in towns or whatever the non-keep locations are called.
