Why not just shut the group finder down and leave event up?

Let ppl at least do the event if they find a group and travel into dungeon.

Cause then it would not be fair to those who do not have friends?

I agree with this! You don't need dungeon finder to do the event. I picked up the Vaults of Madness pledge this morning; solo'd it; got my tickets and second berry and turned in the pledge.

If you're trying to do more difficult dungeons, use chat or your guilds to find a group.

Judging by their twitter the issue was less with DF and more with EU megaserver as a whole.

This would actually be better, more people in zone looking for group means that it is much easier to avoid a 40k health DPS and a 23k health "tank" with a 2h back bar. Now you say you could find groups like that normally but the amount of people that use the group finder is more then just people that don't have friends, most people, myself included, use it because it is easier to queue up a wait then shout into zone. With the group finder off, it would lead to a larger group of people watching zone chat. Like it did the last time zos shut it off, which was a breath of fresh air to me.

Yeah I got the feeling that the activity finder was just the tip of the iceberg really. Now this is just me speculating mind, so don't take it for more than it is, speculation. But I wonder if a larger part of the problem was that the game had to create so many dungeon instances, with so many people wanting to run dungeons and that was the deeper issue. In which case even NA might have seen issues once they hit primetime too just like they did during the Witch event, though never quite as bad as EU.

Are trials not fair to those who don't have friends?

    Welcome to MMOs.

P.S. you don't need to be friends to group in zone chat.

Because it’s not just the group finder that is causing players to have long loading screens and/or disconnects whenever they change region/zone/room.

PC EU cannot cope with significant numbers of users doing anything that requires movement between zones.

Events like this are successful in bringing in numbers of players, who then move swiftly through multiple zones, rather than slow questing or staying in a single zone.

Group finder adds another layer of complexity on top of this. But if group finder was the only issue, then players porting into dungeons without using it would not have experienced long loading screens, disconnects etc.

That makes sense. The mass loading of 'special content' that normally might not be done.

The problem is that event is turned off, but login issues are still.

Now I wish I'd gone to buy my berry a couple of hours ago :( I hope they come up with an alternate in-game way to get tickets to cover this berry and a feather.

Maybe they could turn on the crafting writs event? I'd be happy to cycle through alts churning out writs! No LFG needed.

That's what I did for the tickets as well, but it wasn't just the finder that was broken--for the 15-20 minutes I was logged in, I had lag in the red spectrum territory, with unplayable 999+ ping moments. Even if I wanted to do something other than event related activities, it would be near impossible.

I finished The Bashined Cells I alone, got 3 tickets... and the event was ended just when I arrived at the Impresario to buy the last feather for a new Nascent Indrik. Now I've got 11 tickets - and wait what will happen.

Btw, Fungal Grotto I is easy to solo as well.
