If PvP didn't exist, much of the game's population would be gone.

PvP active population is a margin in compare to PvE active population.

Actual PvP cap is about 100 players for each fraction, so together about 300 players in Cyro at the same time.
    Lets look at EU PC server: CP-locked, nCP-locked, CP-unlocked, below50, 2xIC.

Outside prime time all are empty - just few players at CP and nCP locked.

    Prime time (18-23)?
CP-locked usually all fractions full but quite often some are just 3 or even 2 bars only.
nCP-locked as CP-locked just 3 or bars more often.
    Rest nearly empty.

So real PvP playerbase its maybe 500? 1000? players at PC-EU
ZOS could just shut down PvP and probally nothing would happen in term of ZOS profits.

no one would ever be mad at a set or class in ways that would cause unecessary nerfs or overbuffs

    or jus balance pve differently
make aoes deal reduced damage and healing in pvp

    etc

I think this is overly broad and its using PVP as a scapegoat. While trying to balance the game across both modes is one issue, the other issue is that they're trying to fight power creep in PVE as well without putting everyone who plays this game as a DPS character on the same playing field by addressing the elephant in the room first - animation canceling. Attempting to fight power creep in PVE without addressing animation cancelling is just going to make life miserable for those who can't regularly/reliably execute animation cancelling, which means that addressing power creep through nerfing damage through reductions in the efficacy of our abilities, armor, and sustain will make life miserable for the average player. Meanwhile, it won't directly reduce power creep at the top end, because the top 1-5% of players will always be able to drastically increase their damage output through animation cancelling.

IMO, you shouldn't have to spend hours upon hours in front of a dummy to practice your rotation in order to gain further increases to your damage output - especially when doing a test dummy parse does not come close to resembling a realistic combat scenario. The increase in your damage output should come through upgrades in your equipment, getting better gear, or increasing your character levels.

The alternative is to simply stop making content with the aim of challenging the 1-5% because they'll always be able to bypass mechanics with insane DPS anyways - basically throwing out the outliers - and balance PVE content for the larger remaining majority who aren't 120K DPSers.

pvp whiner crybabies have the need to be a special snowflake.

if THEY use it its ok.
if someone uses it on THEM it is OP.

everytime a pvp’er cries, a nerf is born.

think of it as rock paper scissors....
everyone wants an advantage so you get a bunch of scissors (streamers and you tubers) who complain that rock is OP and needs a nerf, but paper is in a good spot so dont change it.

if pvp wasnt in this game, we all would have a much more stable and complete gameplay experience without excessive nerfs and changes!!!!

PvP is in this game and every other large MMO for a reason.

Yeah because they still keep employing the f%%King EQ2 design model that believes only PVP and raid endgame is of any worth.

I would have quit along time ago if there were not pvp. PVP is part of what sold me on it in the first place.

I will not play this game if it was only pve and I think many think like me, is fun to do a dungeon from time to time but all those monsters are scripted doing always the same time after time in pvp you test yourserlf against other's builds and ability, it is much more fun a deathmatch than fighting against some mobs, for me at least.

Those "many think like" u are not so many and not profitable for ZOS.
It's like maybe 1-2k such players compared to tenth or more thousands players that touch PvP only for leveling Vigor or just to earn 1st tier for Transmutation crystals.
In Cyro I recognize 90% of players there just by @userids.
