Mulaamnir: Volendrung was just used to take the entire emp circle

So at about 10 P.M. EST, Volendrung was picked up by an AD player in Mulaamnir (which has been low pop all day). It is now 11:44 P.M. EST and they still have Volendrung.

Within this past hour and a half they've managed to take the entire emp circle and now the newly crowned AD emperor is also the person who is wielding Volendrung.

Volendrung is definitely balanced appropriately... /s

In your opinion, what should be done (if anything) to fix this/keep this from happening?

So he had volendrung before he was crowned and it let him keep it? I thought there was a mechanic in place that the emp couldn't wield it???

I didn't see him wielding it after emping but I had heard that if the person wielding volendrung is crowned emp while holding it then they can keep it until they die. Like I think you just can't pick it up as emp when it's there waiting to be grabbed.

Apologies if I'm mistaken though

Ive seen AD use the hammer to crown an Emp, and then the same group had Volendrung and an Emp in the same group.

Yeh, nothing stopped that. I just went back to PvE.

Adding super powerful weapons to PVP will not balance PVP, only allow powerful people to steamroll easier.

Someone who isn't geared and isn't CP'd up correctly, with the correct gear, will get bombed, ganked, sniped, sharded, or just tanked to death by those with the correct loadouts.

No amount of Power is going to make a player good at PVP if they aren't already.

If you've volendrung as you get crowned (aka you picked up volendrung before you get emp) you won't drop it. However, you can't pick the artifact up as an emp. Hope that makes sense.

And volendrung should be removed, absolute ape move to add such a thing to cyrodil

I see players getting hammer and running solo to present it to enemies before anybody can react. Just remove damned thing, it is cheezy, unbalanced and lazy cancer.

I’d be interested to hear why ZoS think the hammer mechanic is acceptable.

It is crystal clear that the hammer and spawn system is so absurdly imbalanced it doesn’t make any sense why this obscenely overpowered mechanic was created in the first place.

Yet it remains update after update when so much else is constantly nerfed to death in the name of better balance!

That's why this Volendrung thingy causes just more imbalance. It should be just removed... It makes things only worse... Or enable friendly fire for it! :D
I'm done with this game because of ZOS pushing us into Vengeance, because they don't know how to fix Cyrodiil.

    This

And not only this, but the damn thing causes performance issues.

Great idea to jam the entire server of players on the faction that has the hammer into one area...because whatever side gets it, the entire faction goes to the thing to get AP ticks. Then you have tons of players from the other side trying to stop it, bringing all thier numbers, AoE's, and general calculations that come with combat.
In short, it causes massive server strain. No performance update is going to help the massive numbers that follow the hammer.

Nice try at something different in PvP, but the way it's implemented and the load it puts on the servers makes it a massive fail.
The hammer needs to go back to Oblivion and stay there.

Isn't this the under 50 camp? If its pc/na, who cares, that's a dead camp for emp farming.

    Cyrodiil is innately boring.

It’s the same fight over and over.

This is just a lazy, disruption mechanic to try and bring randomness and chaos to the system. However, it’s easily gamed by good players and used to reinforce the status quo. And we’re back to boring again.

My guess is that ZOS have simply abandoned Cyrodiil PvP as unfixable at present (either practically or economically or both). They’ve given away Imperial City as a way of measuring PvP take up. They’ve closed down BGs until they can fix the grouping system and even if they do, the take up there is pretty rancid. So my guess would be that there’s basically no money and definitely no imagination going into PvP development.

    But hey, dragons eh?

Cyrodil needs an overhaul to a more tactical pvp basically implement Warfare jobs as in siege masters, knights, commanders, combat medics and such I have a lengthy idea but this is a very brief summary of the idea

Make the Hammer turn everyone into cheese, even the holder of the Hammer. Now that would be funny.
FYI - There is no such thing as 'night capping' in a world wide MMO.
FYI - There was no paid Beta. When they launched the game the Beta was over, even if you don't think it was.
    FYI - It's B2P not F2P. There is a difference.
FYI - It doesn't take any player skill to mash keys or buttons in this game. The ones that stay alive longer have the better internet connection and speed.
FYI - The game is not broken, it still works. It just has 'bugs' that need to be fixed.
    Balance is a "Bad" thing.

Example: There were hundreds of Jedi and only two Sith in Star Wars. The Jedi wanted, "Balance in the Force" and they got it. Now there are only two Jedi and two Sith.

    Balance is a "Bad" thing.

The hammer is stupid as with any power weapon in any game I have ever played. They are always put in place with good intentions of a weaker player or faction gaining control and having a fair chance. Problem is the power almost always ends up in the higher skilled or more organized groups. Which obviously completely negates its purpose and makes the weaker side complete helpless.

Bottom line power weapons are dumb. Remove the hammer.

Uncle Sheo is laughing at those that think Volendrung was supposed to be balanced.
The whole point of artifact weapons is to be OP and create Chaos for fun.
It is really not that hard to take the hammer away from another player, but you do have to get off the wall and out of the keep.

Hammer is fine. Leave it alone. Have had some of the best fights ever around the hammer.
I would like to see some kind of population balance though. A buff far better than low pop score bonus is needed.

Eh, it doesn't always end up with the most powerful. One of my guilds runs a Thursday Cyrodiil event with mostly PvE players and we ended up with the Hammer for about half an hour. It was pretty fun not being on the other end of it for once.

That is really simple. Remove Volendrung and never ever bring back daedric artifices into PvP. No one asked for this in a 1st place. People just asked for maybe perhaps something quest related or just furnishing, but ZOS was like:

What is that ? You would like some sort of the lore unique ultra - powerful gear that only one person can carry in a massive multiplayer online game ? Hell yeah ! we gonna add it to PvP...

    *sigh* :*

A lagged out slideshow is fun? The whole campaign rolled back about 5 seconds tonight with the hammer out.
