Yet another "I can't ioneshot things" thread.
No, it's a thread of someone who has played since launch and has witnessed days where the combat in this game used to be actually fun and engaging. Those days are long gone and I feel sorry for those who believe the garbage we are playing now is fun because compared to what this game used to be the current gameplay is garbage.
A lot of what made the combat in this game fun / interesting and engaging has been completely ruined in the recent updates in my opinion.
Between the cast time Ultimates which feel like garbage and slow down gameplay to the now almost useless DOTs to the nerfing of many great abilities and complete butchering of class identity on some of the classes it's becoming very difficult to come back to this game and actually enjoy it. The worst thing is it's hard to tell what they're going to nerf next since the logic behind some of the changes is very strange and it seems they can't make up their minds since they buff things to then completely nerf them in the next update.
I really hope in the future patches they revert some of the poor decisions made in these recent updates and actually make combat fun again. It seems like there's a definite lack of direction concerning the combat and it needs to be looked at before the game suffers for it.
If anything combat is a lot more exciting than during the prvious update with its DoT meta!
The biggest issues I currently have with combat are:[*] Cost are too high in PvP where you have to spam the expensive defensive abilities.
[*] People are too tanky in PvP and it oftentimes feels like you are hitting a mobile target dummy rather than having an engaging fight. Mistakes are barely ever punished anymore. And combat often boils down to who can outlast their opponent rather than who makes the first one or two serious mistakes.
I think there should be a bot that adds "In my opinion : " before threads titles ..
I personnaly find combat quite fun and engaging. I did lost a bit of damage output last patch, but I mitigated it by changing a few things to my rotation that made it even funnier.
There's truly something wrong with this community if getting nerfed equals more fun. Maybe this is why the game is getting worse and worse.

I do agree, I'm not a fan of the recent changes. I actually preferred scalebreaker to this. The ulti cast times are the worst change so far though, dizzy a close second.

Sounds like complaints a tank would be making, especially a mag tank...Hmmm...

Of course it affects magicka builds more adversely than it does stamina builds.
1) Dodge Roll and Block are both stamina-based and their potency is constant and given, freeing up stats to put into offense or sustain where magicka builds have to sacrifice stats to increase the potency of many of their defenses.
2) Dodge Roll and Block did not get hit by the cost increase hammer like heals and shields for example did
3) And not only did Dodge Roll and Block not receive an upwards adjustment of their cost, their cost can in fact be reduced through Champion Points and Armor Traits. So no wonder stamina builds are not having quite as severe issues as magicka builds do.

Cost increases to dodge and block would be more detrimental to magicka users, who would then have to invest even more in stamina. Do not even think about wishing for this.
