What’s a YouTube Alternative. To Post my ESO Videos. (The new YouTube Policy, Has Me Worried)

Ever since 2015, I have used YouTube For all my Videos of ESO. My Videos Mostly ESO, little bit others. YouTube has always been my favorite for posting ESO stuff. Sure, I have only 37 subscribers currently. I know I’m not OP in ESO. Nor do I wish to be OP in ESO. My ESO YouTube Videos are PvP based. Hence the meaning of OP. For past 5+ yrs (didn’t post PC video in 2014) I have been playing ESO.

I have slowly getting followers. However with the new changes to YouTube Policy (starting this December) It seems not the case anymore. This new policy is having many Youtubers nervous. Especially is small ones. I fear YouTube will delete my YouTube account (and all access of my gmail account. Least according to other websites. Save for this link)

So now I’m looking for a YouTube alternative. That I can post my ESO videos to that platform. I understand why YouTube is doing it. Besides they can. But I feel I should warn my Fellow Youtubers. Whom enjoy uploading there Videos of ESO. May it be guild relegated events. PvE/PvP and or both. So here is one link. From one website.

Sincerely, Concerned ESO Youtuber (PvP)

what about their policy would get you gmail account deleted?
I simply must protest. There are no Penguin avatars for me to use in the forums.

    BTW, I use arch too

Hi, here is another link. (Google account) gmail is part of Google Account. So not only loose Gmail, but Google account. (Unless I misunderstood that part?) Google also owns YouTube.

Currently YouTube and Twitch are the two top dogs for gaming videos. I do not know if Twitch allows uploads or if it can only be recorded when streaming.

However, if youtube has channels that are intended as business and others that are just plain Joe and Jane channels. I would expect Google is not looking to ban most of the world from being able to upload videos but I have not read the policy.

YouTube updated its terms of service to more clearly point out that the website can shut down channels that are deemed "unprofitable."

Getting tenderly loved by that invisible hand of the free market.

I don't think it means what you think it means. Otherwise, the barrier to entry for Youtube's market becomes impossibly high, and there would be no new Youtubers, ever. No one STARTS a channel as being profitable. It takes time to build up a viewership base.

We need the definition of "profitable" that they are using. "Profitable" is a term used in more instances beside monetary.

If you just need a "backup" to store your videos, you can use BitChute. It has very basic interface and terrible search function, but does it's job.

There's DLive, Mixer and that's about it but other platforms outside of YT are not as public and it's even harder if you're not already a huge name on them. At least on YT most people will find you since they have google on their phones and other mobile devices.

You can register your own domain and upload your videos to a web host that you trust and has the traffic and data bandwidth you require. Then you just need to embed the video into a web page.

Commercial sites are, as they suggest, easier to passively market and monetize. But you're absolutely at the mercy of their whims. But if you provide good write-ups and give really good information for ESO topics, engine algorithm should put your web site into the relevant search results for those topics.

"Commercially viable" is basically a determination if the channel costs them more to maintain than they make off of it. If you're, say, hosting a large amount of videos that have been demonetized because they're inappropriate, then they can kick you out. I doubt it's going to affect that many casual users. The Heist with Markiplier stream fiasco, however... that's beyond my pay grade. Everybody was kind of wrong so it's truly an unusual situation.

    Hello everyone,

With this thread being a bit off-topic for the ESO forums, we're going to go ahead and close it down.

    Thank you for understanding.
