Templar Elemental Damage & Weapon Passives Synergy

Hi all,

I'm leveling a restoration staff templar and, while i'm focusing on the healing role, i'm trying to introduce more dps into my build for questing/soloing.
For this purpose i am thinking on using the destruction staff mostly for its passives, although, this presents me two questions:

Which tipe or kind of damage is the templar's elemental damage?

Do the destruction staff passives like the Tri Focus or the Elemental Force affect the templar's spells?

Many thanks...

nope as they do only affect elemental attacks wich you have only one (sun fire and its morphs) elemental attack(fire) and the passives are highly restircted.
tri fokus: is connected to the staff beeing used for heavy attacks nothing else.
penetrating magic: restricted to destro abilities
elemental force: only destro attacks can activate the destro staff procs thus this ability doesn effect sun fire wich allready applys a fire dot anyway (wich is much higher than the staff proc)
    ancient knowledge: heavy attacks only
    destruction expert: destro skill needed

so you have absolutly no sysnergies between the destro passiva and your one elemental attack.

Resto staff cycle of life gives a good damage boost in conjunction with aedric spear/dawn's wrath ranged dps spells...which doesn't answer your question but may be worth exploring.

Magelight may be an option. It helps spell critical chances, and one of the morphs of Aedric Spear gives a sliding boost to criticals as the target's health lowers.

Dunmer and Altmer racials, or picking up the Warrior Mundus Stone in Cyrodil are better bets for boosting Fire damage on a Templar.

    Hello again,

I thought that class skills would benefit from weilding a given weapon as, during gameplay, my heals (from the Restoring Light skill line) seemed stronger after spending some skill points on the restoration staff passives.

I guess i had a completely wrong idea about weapon synergies altogether as they don't exist in the way i was thinking, and not just for templars but for all the existent classes.

    My conclusion:

If a player only uses skills from his character's class skill line, like myself (skills from Dawn's Wrath and from Restoring Light), he may just discard his weapon as it is just there for the looks.

Thank you very much for all your answers.
