False premise.
MM and TTC do not even come close to a global trading system (aka auction house). They are player driven tools for record keeping and statistics. Big difference.
TTC is the equivalent of someone telling you that there's a good deal on X out at Y location. You still have to trek out to Y location before anyone else buys the item.
Oh and by the way, TTC actually enables you to sell reasonably priced items way out in the boonies where there's less foot traffic. People who know how to sell can still pull 1M+ a week pretty much anywhere.

The trading tool addons brings it as close to a global system as they can. The point is still valid that current system does not work as a good portion of the player base would like it to. If it worked then these addons would not have been developed and become as popular as they are.
I feel we need the global trading model and the gold sink muse be replaced with something else. But what? The really interesting stuff is indeed on sale - on the Crown store and I understand why and also I have no problem with that. Yet we need something interesting players would like to spend their money for regularly.

I agree that the base game tools are not satisfactory. I disagree that the popularity of these addons is justification for a global auction house. The way I see it, these tools bring out the positive aspects of the guild trader system.
