How did you manage to break this game AGAIN?

PC/NA.

"This account is already logged in"
"This account is already logged in"
etc.

After having to Alt-F4 because of an endless load screen.
After having to leave and come back to even join the Dungeon Queue, because leaving wouldn't work.

Come. On. Quit re-breaking what you thought you had fixed, but clearly didn't.

Go to task manager, processes. If eso64.exe is still there, kill it.

Need to read the patch notes....

    https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/497974/pc-mac-patch-notes-v5-2-5-dragonhold-update-24

    Specifically this....

"Added a 30 second wait time between logins from the same account to fix a variety of data corruption issues that could affect characters. If you try to log into the same account within the 30 second window, you will receive an error message stating the account is already in use.
Note: This will not have any impact on swapping characters."

I read the OP, and was going to mention this, too.

It's just ZOS putting you in timeout, not for anything you did, but because of their server issues and zone crashes. So not only do you get randomly kicked from the game, but you now get extra time to think about it while you stare at the screen.

It's part of the new server improvement plan. The more people that are in timeout and not actually playing, the less server load there is, and a better experience for those who have not yet crashed and are still playing.

Making someone wait to log back in after getting kicked is ***. Doesn’t matter how long or short it is.

Typical programmers. You put something in that might be sane, sensible and effective like a 30 seconds recognise wait time. Then you utterly confuse and shaft your users by giving them an utterly misleading, erroneous, idiotic error message. Because what makes ‘sense’ to a back end server programmer, makes no sense whatsoever to anyone who actually uses their systems.

It’s like ZOS telling me I might need a valid internet connection when the server is down or the log in system is broken (again). It’s a blatant lie.

This produces just about the worst kind of player/customer experience you can imagine. The player is ill-informed, doesn’t know what is going on, becomes anxious that their account is f****d up, and most seriously has no idea how to resolve the situation. They end up confused and angry at the game and ZOS.

How about ZOS did a bit of UI testing with their server error messages and made them actually user focussed, informative and useful. Even something as rude as “you have tried to log in too many times, please wait 30 seconds and try again” would be better than lying to me and telling me I am already logged in, when I can bloody see that I am not.

It’s not a game breaking issue, but it might just make for a game changing experience.

This. People don't read netch poots, come to forum to flood, and wonder why the forum becomes toxic to them.

Agreed. Before, you could have logged back in in time to get that big AP tick, or loot that dragon or trial or dungeon boss, but now you're just out of luck.

Should have been clearer, I guess. It wasn't 30 seconds waiting. I swapped to PC/EU and got in fine. Swapped back...no dice.

I basically went to go read a book because I'm tired of this crap. Glad I canceled my sub.

The idea that a player should have to visit this forum, let alone read patch notes to understand a screen prompt on login is just ridiculous.

Most players don’t even know the forum exists, and of the minuscule number who do, even fewer read patch notes.

On screen error messages are meant to be informative to the user independent of any other information. That’s their only function. That’s just basic UI. But like a lot of basic things, ZOS can’t quite get a handle on it or don’t care.

Just a friendly reminder - do something - and I mean REALLY do something - before people start rage quitting en masse. This is not flaming or anything, I like this game a lot, I played a lot of other MMOs before (one reason why I like this game) and I also saw before what is now happening in this game. Do not let it slip out of control. Which does not translate into "censure the forums heavier" (this I also have seen before) but "start thinking about player base first".
You are seriously undermining the trust of the players. The endless changes in combat system are indeed bad, but the client bugs are worse.

A VERY good point, I love that. But note that a typical programmer (assuming we talk about a real programmer, not the cheap guys from the third world countries who are hired only because the management tries to cut down the expenses) is good at hard skills but not that good in user interaction. You have other specialists for that (UI designers).
