Whatever balance the devs are trying to enforce by making it so impossibly hard to get a hold of things like iridium plating why??? is so ridiculously overdone as to make the fact that we can even make jewelry useless. Half the jewelry i find in drops isnt even able to be deconned for the mats this is insane simply making them deconstruct-able for mats might alleviate some of this issue but there is still way more that can be done.
Unless half your jewlery drops are "Exemplary" jewlery then they can be destructed. If you're getting that much exemplary jewlery, then you need to play in places where the non exemplary drops.

That said, the system could use some further tweaking. Alchemy and Jewelry would both benefit from hirelings.

i decon those all the time. have you spent points in jewelry crafting to get a better chance at the higher mats? not on my toons right now, but i think there are points for that.

It is a bug that you are getting them. They should be purged from the loot tables.
I'd say get rid of hirelings all together, or find a better way of delivery, the email spam is meh.
If anything, instead of the daily rewards giving crown pots / potion they should be a mat crate.
A mat crate is tallied up by every character on your account that has hireling passives enabled, or every character on your account that is level 50 in particular tree.
Instead of 50 spam mails every 12 hours, and having to relog into alts to pick up the delivery, 1 mega drop on daily login (if the day is mat crate) would be far better. Might even ease server load if the sever wasn't constantly sending out 5 spam mails per 12 hours.

Specifically, jewelry created after the release of Summerset should be deconstructible. Jewelry from before that was flagged to prevent decon, because we had ludicrous amounts of the stuff laying around.

Correct, but keep in mind the newer Purple stuff that can be researched (the ones that sell for 500, i.e. infused rings) also cannot be deconned. This is a very big annoyance, as the item tooltip does not say so - unlike Jewelry from pre-Summerset, which does. I fell trap to this a few weeks ago when I wanted to powerlevel my alt's jewlery so I dropped 200k on Infused Rings... only to find out each and every single one of them is useless. I guess I never noticed before because I usually put mine in the traders myself (ironic.)
Another complaint is that I always thought the 'item cannot be decontructed' tip should always be at the top of the tooltip, on pre-summerset stuff, mainly when buying from traders you have to scroll down the tooltip on each individual piece, lest you buy some crap you can't decon. Information like that should be front and center imo.
