you're getting into BGs?

I've just been stuck sitting in the queue for 3+ hours at a time

Same issue here... like 3/5 BG hangs on loading screen until it moves me back where i was before accepting. Happened on multiple chars.

is this issue only for few player?

I was clueless when I red the performance letter and said the battlegrounds work, they leave you on a long loading screen and after some minutes you are where you were before the loading. They do not work at least since they reactivated the dungeon finder.

I'm having the same issue as well. Some I can eventually get in but it feels like once there are a few players for BGs the queue pops and then you sit in a load screen while they try to fill the rest of the slots. If they can't you get the "cannot join battleground" error and kicked back to the location you were in when you accepted.

If this is the case, please let it work like dungeons. Have a player accept tally in the corner and only once 9 players have accepted will you get ported. At least then I can do other stuff while I wait rather than sitting in load.
