In my opinion since the set isn't op or meta anymore why not change the way it proc's so as to benefit all play styles?
Why not just a percentage chance on crit damage instead of direct crit damage?

xPoisin✭✭✭I have tested it today on PTS, but it seem a bit bugged. I got over 75% (450 of 531) hits of puncturing sweeps + over 75% unstavle wall and aedric spear crit hits but still cannot get more than 50% uptime.
Tested with Scathing+ MS, Scathing+Julianos and Scathing+Ovewhelm... Thief mundus, precise on staff and still not more than 50% uptime... With MS i got 87% crit but the results was the same as with Julianos...
I think that chanhe from crit direct damage to direct damage would be great for this set for all magplars according to current changes.1 -
DarkPicture✭✭✭✭✭SPC also should get an update, those sets are working in old system where 500 sd was a huge buff or there wasnt any other buff set to apply major courage. With new trial/dung sets or even craftable they are become garbage.Edited by DarkPicture on October 29, 2019 8:22PM0

xPoisin✭✭✭With the uptime of 50% is the set useless, because I will use the Julianos with flat 300 spell dmg and have almost the same result (if not better for my back bar with AoEs)... Definitely is the set not worth to farm except you want to farm some hakeio

✭✭✭✭✭I use Scathing Mage on my magSorc and have a very high uptime (75-85%) on the proc using Force Pulse.
I actually appreciate the specific proc condition (and the fact that it benefits some classes, such as magSorc, more than others) and wish that there were more niche sets like it, but I also agree that in an era of 500 free damage crafted sets that it could use some sort of buff.
Even if it was a small change such as removing the internal cooldown on the proc so that 100% uptime was achievable and/or increasing the damage from 516 -> 600 and/or swapping the 1096 Max Magicka to a third 833 Critical, which would make this set sort of a souped-up Mother's Sorrow.0 -
Somber97866✭✭✭✭✭The problem I have with it is that this set takes more time to farm than MS and isn't worth the extra time getting groups and farming. I guess I shouldn't worry about it bc before long ( with these rapidly sweeping changes and unstable meta's) this set will once again be king..............somehow.1
