can't people just change their @name to avoid getting blacklisted?
Yet another flaw in the game.

Yes you CAN change account name, I was wrong.

    ---
You can't change @accountname. You can change character name, but @accountname stays the same, as it should.

I haven't seen that recipe on any traders for less than 150k (there have probably been some, but no doubt snatched up quick). If someone is advertising for 1/2 the going price, that's a hint to be on alert.

Here on PS4 NA you can get that for 10k at many shops. Why? Most of the players have been cheating and exploiting a glitch that caused them to get around 10 skulls per minute. People in my guild told me about this. Because of this glitch, people have been getting skulls at ridiculous rates and getting tons of rare items for almost no work.

This has made me livid. I loathe exploits and cheats. And I refuse to cheat. So I am playing the game legitimately and getting punished for it. As a trader, I have done a lot of hard work getting rare items but cannot sell them for anything because so many people have cheated that you can find those recipes in the shops for like 10k. Most new, rare items are selling for 10k or less.

Hard work deserves suitable reward. I don't want to oversell, and I don't want to undersell. I just want items to be priced reasonably.
Because these people cheated, me and everyone else who refuses to cheat now gets nothing for all the work we did. I've stopped doing anything with this festival now and am just leveling up toons. So disappointed.

I'm talking about this from a trader's perspective, but the fact of the matter is that many people cheated to get those hoards of skulls. They went against TOS. This is unacceptable, and their rewards should be revoked. I wish ZOS would do something about it, but they won't. I submitted a ticket with all the information I could glean about the exploit, but I don't know everything because I never went there or did it. I was as detailed as I could be, but the damage has been done. It won't be fixed.

Well, based on what I've read in the forum, ZOS won't ever tell you whether they're doing anything about whatever it is you've reported, they just either do something or not do something. And if they do something, you might eventually figure out that they did something because people in your guild will start griping about how the exploit stopped working, or about how they had gold or items disappear from their accounts (because ZOS investigated, figured out who got what, and reversed it), or about how their buddies suddenly got banned from the game "for no apparent reason," or something like that.

I'm not criticizing what ZOS does or how they do it-- it's their game, and their prerogative-- merely pointing out that just because you don't hear back from them about it doesn't mean they aren't investigating, fixing the exploit, and taking any disciplinary actions they deem necessary.

You absolutely can change your @ name. I know multiple people who have done so at one point or another. Although if you have added someone to ignore you will still have them on ignore under the new name even after they've changed it.

On topic, pay attention when you are making your trades and you'll be fine. Item icons in ESO are all fairly unique and scamming someone by swapping the item for another one with a similar icon is not easy. Don't spam that "confirm" button.

Some people are just ugh  There really should be a punishment in place for people who do such things, I'm so sorry that this happened to you @Keylun . My guild bank was stolen from, by one of the very small amount of people who had access, just 6 people who I really trusted, and then just yesterday my NA guild was stolen from too. There should be consequences for such behavior. It's really disgusting and these people should not be allowed to continue to behave this way in game, affecting others with their crap.

Im always super tediously thorough with trades, always hover over the items inspecting them in detail. But how do you change @accountname?? Do you send in a ticket to ZOS and ask them to? Because it's zos' system so technically they can do anything if they want to.

As mentioned before, just go to the "Account" page on the website and click "Edit Account Info". I believe there is a certain amount of time that has to pass between @ name changes (so you can't scam people and change your @ name every other day to stay off the radar) but it is indeed possible to change it.

i had a similar experience. someone was advertising it in zone chat so i traded with them and they waited forever. when i saw it was just the food [disasterous db mara] i quit the trade and blocked them. It sucks you have to stay on your toes but it's probably better to wait a few weeks after the event and then buy it on the guild store.

I was scammed once, but it did not work. Had to bear some cost, thou.

One "resplendid human being" talked me into CODing a receipe including the fee, no problem, just mail it.

They did not take it. I had to wait for ages to get my receipe back and had to bear the cost of a failed COD.

I explain it that way: Talk enough people into CODing you stuff, and wait for some to mail you gold instead of charging you.

Now I do my trades face to face.

Easy way to avoid getting scammed here - do your trading over guild stores. You may not get soch "sweet deals" as advertised... but... you also won't get scammed because the mechanics there make it pretty clear what you buy for how much exactly.

In-world trades with strangers... well, you take your chances. I myself would keep that for people I actually trusted...

I have bought 2 in zonechat for 60k, while they were listed for 200k in guildstores.
Same with witches writs, 10k in guildchat, 25-30k in stores.

So such opportunities are not uncommon during events, but I concur that you really should doublecheck your transactions, especially if you trade with non-guildmembers.

Simply don't ever bother trading with someone who asks for weird unneccessary extra steps or simply drags the trade process for too long.

I do not know if ZOS actually punishes scammers or would give you your gold back but Its worth a shot to contact support and see if they can help. On a rare occasion where I accidentally burned my item while upgrading(I think it was a rare fury shield or something like that), I contacted support and they actually gave me my item back(I was not given back the upgrade material , but I don't mind losing tempers due to my own idiocy). Anyways Its an unrelated situation but my point is that ZOS actually does care about this sort of stuff. Its worth a shot.

It was my own fault for not checking.

Someone advertised Pack Leader Broth recipe in chat for sale. Once we met up for the trade, I offered the agreed upon amount of gold of 75k. He leaves his side of the trade blank until I have shown the money.

He takes ages to submit the item and ended up giving me a single broth drink instead of the recipe.

Yes I should have double checked but I was in a rush to play some other games with my Nephew. Just wanted to remind people to be careful!

P.S I’m not giving tips. Don’t try this method or simply don’t scam. It’s very easy to get caught!

To everyone asking - yes I did submit a ticket and I managed to take a video of myself ‘learning the recipe’ (AKA - drinking broth) and frantically going through my inventory looking for the recipe.

This one recently had someone she does not know send her a basic furnishing she did not ask for with a COD price attached.

This one returned the mail and they sent it back with a sad face asking why this one she did not accept.

Khajiit ignored it and a short time later it vanished from the mailbox yes.

A strange thing indeed to do. This one assumes they thought she would just empty her mailbox quickly and not notice.

The sum was only small but still it was much more than the item in question was worth. If they did the same thing perhaps to many travellers then they could make quite a large profit, assuming none of them looked at their mail properly before accepting attachments.

People tend to link the item when selling as its just easier than typing it out, so its usually obvious what you're getting. Cant remember the last time I saw someone trying to sell in zone without providing a link.

Exactly, 999 times out of 1000 the item is linked in chat. The guy was scammed. I take offense to people asking “How was it written in chat?” If you advertise one pot for 75k, either you’re an idiot or pos. Lol.
