Servers were never good enough, for years Cyrodiil was unplayable when it was crowded and still is, now we can't even login. Yet they're still trying to save money by not upgrading the servers. They only fix issues when they start losing players. Priority is adding new stuff to crownstore, fixing issues was never their priority.
I wonder what they do with my money other than releasing an update nobody asked for and breaking the game. I don't know what happened to zos but their stinginess will be the end of this game.
Stop creating new content and fix the game first...

They really need to invest heavily in servers or this game will die no matter the content they keep adding.

Pretty easy to extrapolate if you look at current and past Happenings. If Servers and Code would be absolutely fine then we wouldnt have Cyro massively lagging/crashing for years and we probably wouldnt have every day since a new patch have downtime without fail.

We all know ZoS is raking in money, why not improve servers and rake in more money? How are we supposed to spend money if the servers are down half the time? Almost down or unplayable everyday this week for EU.

No one will be worse than EA. Even with Bethesda's screw ups with FO76 and their Fallout 1st thing, no one can be worse than EA. Activision-Blizzard is coming close though :D

It really comes down to their engine . It's a horrid patchwork . it does not matter how good the servers are it what your putting in it and how it handles input and transfers response. Eso is in milk mode it's a half finished idea of a game they rewrote to a single player rpg with online options.

Is it possible they see a trend in the loss of players and are in "cash in while we can" mode?

And then what? Shut down the servers and run towards Mexican border?

So many gamespot IT Pros and business magnates here today.

Here's a challenge: Come up with a comprehensive list of what ZOS needs to do, how much it will cost, and a timeline to fix this games performance and ensure it is viable for another 5 years.

Should keep you busy until this patch crap is over.

Move on to the new game they are developing. It’s not to hard to come to the conclusion that this game is in its back 9 of its life cycle .

It’s really as simple as grabbing all the 💵💵💵💵now with little effort and turn the switch on the new shiny.

^ Yeah, hiring John Cleese, Molina and countless of other professionals for Elsweyr was because they want with just a little effort to steal our money, ready to show us their next game. How dare they!

The BS on these forums have been overflowing lately to the mind-blowing proportions.

Did you already submit your resume? No?

Surely, you have a deep technical/programming background involving MMOs that you could make that statement.

Come on, EA will never go so low as in selling DLC like horse armor. They will just put it in loot b surprise mechanics, which I must remind you, is perfectly ethical.

Everyone thinking that, I invite you to play an EA MMO, like SWTOR.

Spoiler Alert: You'll start to miss ZoS in a couple of days of *trying* to do endgame. Bugs and performance problems never get fixed (at least ZoS is trying), you get a tiny expansion with 2 hs content every 2 years, the gear grind is an absurd nightmare, and you don't have access to endgame content or warzones without subscribing.

For example, SWTOR used to have a world pvp zone (Illum). The performance was abysmal, unplayable even worse than Cyrodiil. What they did? Fix it? NOPE. They simply removed it. No more Illum PVP.

I don't think EA is worse, they're both quite bad. I love the Bethesda franchises but they're really making problems / inconveniences on purpose and selling solutions. ESO is technically not pay to win but it has lootboxes same as EA, it has skill lines for sale and skill points / skyshards for sale for veteran players. We could've just had some of these things account wide but they found a way to have us buy undaunted passives and such. They also have that pet on PTS that holds inventory for you. On the other Bethesda side of things, they said FO76 would have no paywall and all items would be cosmetic. Then they did the fallout first thing instead of fixing the game, bait and switch in the pre-order bags, there's repair kits for IRL money, a robot that collects junk for you even in PvP servers, and the clothes from the atom store that give extra stats. I don't think they're inherently pay to win, but Pete Hines said there would be no stuff like this. They could've just kept fixing the game but instead they copied ESO's subscription model and went back on their word. They literally said on a blog post they will no longer sell cosmetics only on the store, then they released all this. And you can't even mod the private fo76 servers.

It will be interesting to revisit this topic after Dragon Age 4 and Elders Scrolls VI come out. Place your bets now for which series will be wrecked harder and more definitively.

i am pretty cautious at this point with regards to TES VI after seeing Fallout 76...or do you have any doubt that they will try to nickel and dime the community horse armor style? The best thing that could happen to fallout and elder scrolls if microsoft bought the franchise and gave it to obsidian...

Honestly, no other mmo i play or see has the same issues - which tells me the problem is structural - e.g. caused by the mega server structure... same with all the skill change that try to ease performance on the server...

I think this mega server structure is the issue and therefore we will not see a real improvement of performance...maybe a slow down of its decay

I agree with you. The megaserver was a cool idea that has failed. If they could fix it, they would have done so long before now.

There's always hope for technical or software innovations, but since they're now trying to address performance by changing combat abilities, I think we're down to bandaids and luck.

Greetings! We've closed this thread given its non-constructive and bashing nature. While we completely understand everyone has their own opinions, and even frustrations, we want the forums to be a civil and constructive platform for the game and it's community as a whole.
