Like you can only get one from a mini boss every so many minutes. do a mini bosses too close together and no plunder skull is forth coming...
I simply must protest. There are no Penguin avatars for me to use in the forums.

BTW, I use arch too

Delve bosses are always on a timer for loot. You can see it with some of the fast-spawning ones like the wispmother in Hrota Cave - when they spawn too fast, you don't get more than a couple coins from her. In years past, the timer for plunder skulls was 3 minutes.

The timer should be 3 minutes.

It's 3 minutes. I have the timer addon and I always get one after 3 minutes. Sometimes I get one after 2 minutes.

If you want purple plunder skulls go camp out in the new elsweyr zone to the east, the dragons respawn every few minutes and you can get to one of their three landing sites super fast and they die in 2 seconds. You also get the document bags and other bags of loot in addition. Lots and lots of designs and recipes.

I think I got over 80 skulls in a few hours last night.

Um, there are two landing zones (though I guess that depends on how you count them) and how fast they go down depends greatly on which time of day you're on. Unless you're on the NA server and things a very different from EU there.

It's better to do regular group dungeons, no timer there.

Oop, actually four landing zones. The three next to each other (one above on a hill, one on the shore, and one inbetween), and one across the trail up on a cliff. NA server has been packed with people at all hours. Sometimes they die before you can even mount your horse. The one across the road takes a little longer to get to so that one lives the longest.

Actually, there is a timer in Group Dungeons too. It just takes longer than 3 minutes in most dungeons to go from boss to boss. But, in those few dungeons where there are two bosses close, it is a factor.

This year, it really doesnt seem like it in group dungeons. I've gotten all 5 plunder skulls from a less than 10 minute run of FG1.

Alik'r dolmens seem to be pretty fast for skulls (and mind numbing of course). I tried it for short time until lag got to point where the boss/bosses were consistently killed before I saw em, got plenty before that.

Agreed. I have been using FG1 as my daily dungeon and seem to always get skulls.

I got Gold Skulls for doing:

    Dragons
    World Boss
    4 Person Dungeon
    Public Dungeon
    Delve

I am guessing if I did a 12 Person Trial I would get one for that too...

Anything else to do to get a gold plunder skull?

Yes, figures. In any case, it's more exciting than going after the same boss the same time with few changes of environment, if at all. Especially if you like team play more than going out alone.

Yes, I have gotten full boss loot just like I always would in a group dungeon even on really fast FG1 runs. We definitely didn't wait 3 minutes between Broodmother, Clatterclaw, and Dreugh King but got full loot and plunder skulls.

I haven't checked delves because grinding the easy dungeons on a Tank (DD with a taunt) has been faster for grinding. And fun too - one run, I had a level 13 healer doing his/her first dungeon - that was cool!

I've done a lot of normal group dungeons in the past two days. The bosses always drop loot and always drop plunder skulls. You can drag two of them right beside each other and kill them at the same time and you'll still get both plunder skulls. If you can finish FG1 in 4 minutes, you still get all 5 skulls.

Group dungeons are by far the fastest way to farm the generic plunder skulls. I've been doing mostly Darkshade 1. 6 bosses and all are fast with minimal cc mechanics to slow you down. Spindle 1 is also fairly fast, but solo the end boss will just cc you over and over.

You can avoid the Two most annoying CCs the final boss in Spindleclutch throws out by dodge rolling whenever she rears up. You have to pay very close attention, or rely on an addon to warn you if you are on PC. unfortunately, all three of her different moves have the same tell, and the one where she webs you in cannot be dodged.

I hear you on the purple ones... but for the gold ones, the delves and the dungeons and the public dungeons each give their own gold plunder skull daily. For grinding more purple ones it sounds great.
