Why do poeple have to blame pvp for pve nerfs,

because it is true for the vast majority of them. it has been the mmo way when there is no means to separate the two. WOW started it as eq and eq2 have separated them. it will never change until game engines are designed for the separation.

Why do poeple have to blame pvp for pve nerfs, its not just a pve game

Because teh vast majority of people who primarily play PVE don't give a $%&# about sets pumping out "too much" damage, other sets "healing too well" or "mitigating too much damage," or things like bows and stealth being "OP," or whine incessantly about the unfairness of Earthgore or Zaan.

Yeah I mean this gets right to the crux of the matter. It is primarily PVP players demanding "nerfs" & "balance" etc, in what IS a primarily PVE game.

I have never been a proponent of separating PVP and PVE, because I like to play both, but increasingly I am wondering if this may be the only way to save PVE and ultimately ESO, from the disastrous nerf cycle of extremes.

ZOS have to find someway to stop ruining PVE for the sake of PVP.

Their will always be bad player whining in forum about how they died stupidly and how it's not right.
Same for jealous in pve about why this class do better dmg than the other or heal more than my healer and blablabla.

Most don't want to learn and adapt by themself. They just wanna be good/best w/o any effort so they blame all they can but not themself.

PvPer tend to be the more voiced on forum when it came to nerf something but it's mostly cuz PvP is more frustrating than PvE.
But in both side you've whiner.

PvP is broken, laggy and there are a ton of variables that will never allow it to ve balanced, PvE on the other hand can easily have targets and number adjustments to reach the correct balance. Unfortunately due to trying to balance the unbalancable PvP, PvE suffers

Pull your heads out and blame ZoS for not separating the two!

    *facepalm*

Ya'll are playing right into it...
keep on blaming each other and fighting about it on the forums instead of banding together to demand separation.

    *sigh*

This is the same as the left vs right wing politics drama. It does not exist ZOS f uped the game regardless of PVE or PVP. It is bad developing going back and forth for a game that is this old, they should be ashamed of themselves.

All very true, I agree as a PVP player. The fact is and will always remain this game is both PVE and PVP. Take it or leave it. Simple

If the outcome of "balancing" the game for both pvp and pve, is that each of these keeps receiving wholesale change - buffs/nerfs etc, this is not good practice and people are perfectly entitled to criticise this approach and seek better solutions.

Pvp is so different from pve, it is always going to be very difficult to balance things in a way that satisfies the majority. But I think its the case around 70 or 80% of the players base play pve, which is clearly significantly more than those who main pvp. So the argument follows, why are so many changes apparently motivated by balancing pvp? The focus seems disproportionate and this is where complaints arise.

You’re just pulling numbers out of your ass. Probably most of the player base doesn’t even care about either form of endgame. Also nerfs have nothing to do with PvP. ZOS would nerf skills regardless to control power creep. Since they have to do it anyway it comes up primarily in the context of PvP. But we can never forget that the biggest changes like Morrowind sustain nerf was done for the sake on controlling PvE. Also PvErs are happy to just have endless power creep and burn through enemies so they’ll never say if things are OP unless another class is out DPSing and there have been many nerfs to control classes that parse too high.

It's all a matter of perspective. It's not the mirror that lies, it's the thought process that goes on in the viewer's head.

I attribute the existence of some animosity between PvP and PvE to ZoS for clinging for five years to the idea of trying (and failing) to balance them together. How many years of failing does it take to consider a different approach? The two aspects of the game are radically different and should be balanced as such. Either separately balance them or develop a much (much) more robust use of Battle Spirit.

PvP and PvE generally are different games. Players are not to blame if game designers try to mash them in same mould and fail.
