A person with the name of [snip] has just scammed me for 425,000 gold by telling me he/she would sell me some crowns for the new Dragonhold Collector Bundle. Please beware of this person on NA server. I encountered he/she in Vivec. I have already made a report on this for ZOS to notice and only wish to have my gold back.

[Edit for naming and shaming.]

Notice like this shouldn't get you in trouble, but it will. ZoS auto response robot support will help you, but you'll get this closed or deleted. Good notice let the crown sellers guild know.

Inform people at TCE discord. They will add that name on their black list at least.

Hey, @Pr0Skygon ... I'm not sure if you're the same person I talked to yesterday. (You'd be one of my fellow guild members if so.) If not, that player sure is pushing their luck by scamming multiple people!!!
I've added the @name to my ignore list, and I really hope you get your gold back.
And I really hope this gets more attention before (if/when) ZOS removes the post.
"Naming and shaming" shouldn't be an offense if it's legit and honest, and serves as a warning to others.

Good you reported them but as others have stated, posting names in the forums is against TOS.

I would recommend to you as I have to others to only do these purchases in guild, with people you know, or other monitored system.

Report it in game to zos. Even to your guild mates, et al, But naming and shaming is not permitted in the forums since it is easy to say someone did something regardless of any truth to the comment. Not suggesting OP is lying.

I fully aware what I posted is against the rule, but it's more like necessary evil for me.

Also, I agree with "naming", but not "shaming". There's no shame to point out a scammer :P

There will always be more scammers, unfortunately. Why get yourself banned over one?

As others have said, best to report them and in future, doing Crown purchases / sales through safer means and encourage others to do the same!

    Greetings all,

While we can understand how upsetting this can prove to be, we must remind the members of the community that Naming and Shaming is a violation of the rules that we have in place. In cases where a player/member feels they have been scammed, we ask that these instances be reported to our support team so that the situation can be handle properly.

    Thank you for your understanding,

It's sad isnt it how PLAYERS have to take it in their own hands to deal with people breaking the TOS in game because the COMPANY considers it "Naming and shaming"? As a company you should allow the naming of scammers... and BAN them!! Not give them a safety net...

Unfortunately zos cannot verify right away so it's initially slander of another toon.

Only viable way is to let zos know and discuss within guilds.

    COD on crowns for gold.

Why do people still buy crowns from strangers in zone chat? The potential for getting scammed is insanely high.

Just use one of the Discord servers like TCE.

Trading gold for whatever can be risky if you don't know the people.
Maybe ZOS could devise a way to include crowns in the small Trade window, like when you trade loot. People can already trade gold for items, might as well also trade crowns for items.

Ah, I was going by what others had said. I knew it was against TOS but not how infractions are handled.

Hope you’re able to get your hold back and stay safe! :)

Contact the support, reply to the bot response clearly and politely re-explaining your problem with your screenshots & other info you can provide. And use some trusted mediator for your exchanges next time.

They will not tell you what action, if any, they take but Crown Store related scamming likely is taken seriously by support because it can potentially affect revenue.

there has to be rules like this. if not any idiot could post a LIE about such a occurrence for you and I to read. only zos has the means to look at COMPLETED transactions. also screen shots don't show everything either.

scams likened to this have been in mmos for a decade or two. I am sorry someone got taken for but you wont be the last person either.

Just 6 time, the most funny part is that all the auto messages after the first one was ''Read the answer provided'' that basically was pointing to the first auto message

Well you take the risk and lost.
I can understant how you feel but I'm not gonna feel sad for that.
Don't ask random player for these kind of thing. Ask guildie or friend (the one who play with often not the one you just meet once) so you'll have way less chance to be scammed.

That said, hope support can help you.

"Naming and shaming" shouldn't be an offense if it's legit and honest, and serves as a warning to others.

Who gets to decide whether it's legit and honest? Not the person reporting it, certainly - past evidence of false and malicious accusations against individuals their accusers have fallen out with rules that out and illustrates why we need the "no naming and shaming" rule.
