How can you stop Group Finder putting you in a group already deep in the Dungeon (Useless for pledge

This is pointless if you are doing the dungeon for a pledge and the group are already beyond the first boss you need to kill for the pledge

Finder tool doesn't discriminate that hypothesis.
When this happens, I just leave the group after explaining them why I'm leaving.

yep - but its unfair on you (10min delay befor you can queue again) and them having to wait for someone else.

There should be a check box - "Allow joining and existing instance" or something as in other mmo's

It's dungeon finder, not pledge finder. You get lucky sometimes with the randomness. Sometimes you get stranded people who will never be rescued - Sometimes you get a group where you replaced an idiot and get 100k for killing one dlc dungeon boss HM and a motif to boot.

Edited: removed word "random" as you can specify your dungeon but not it's state of progress or group setup, which is what will always be random about the finder.

Make it so that you only need to defeat the final boss for the pledge.

If players can opt not to be placed in a partially finished instance, it will make it that much more difficult for a group to find a replacement for a player who left or had to be kicked.
This creature called a songbird. What a devious creation! This winged nuisance erodes sanity with its incessant chirping. What a brilliant form of torture!

You can queue up with a premade group.

Groupfinder is used for two purposes.
    1. To find a group doing a random or specific dungeon
    2. To find replacements for group members who left/were kicked

#2 is why you get in-progress dungeons, and since that's a vital function of Groupfinder, ZOS isnt likely to change it in such a way that would decrease the pool of replacement players.

You can kill the last boss on vethm then go back on normal and kill the rest of the bosses on normal by yourself and it will count towards the 2 key reward.

I don't necessarily have a problem with just eliminating the replacement player functionality.

As a healer, I find that 90% of the time when I get put into an in-progress dungeon, I'm going into a hopeless situation with at least 2 of the remaining players being terrible (usually both DPS). Similarly, most of the times that I need replacement players, I realize later that I'd have been better off completely scrapping the group and starting from scratch.

Just do what I do and stop playing this game... its so poorly designed. Once you stop you will have time to do something way better.

avoid the penalty and just run with them and kill the other ones on normal.

The OP said group finder not random group finder.

I usually just finish the partial dungeon and run it again if needed, but you have a few options. If you really don’t want to be there, and the group doesn’t mind you leaving then ask them to kick you and you won’t have to wait 15 mins to requeue. It’s understandable if they decline this request, since they may have spent some time waiting for a fill before you arrived, in which case you can choose to stay and clear it or leave and take the penalty.

Another option is to queue with a friend. It’s rare that a partially completed dungeon will need to replace 2 players at the same time, and that the needed roles line up with what you and your friend are currently playing.

You Queue with Randos You Lose!

Hope you learned your lesson. We all had to learn it at some point. Most competent players go into Dungeons with a pre made formed.
