Fall Damage from Players vs NonPlayers is Broken

Why am I taking about 50% more fall damage from a player than I would otherwise if I just jumped from the same elevation on my own? I got knocked out of a keep tower in Cyrodiil, which is 3 floors, by an enemy players javelin and took almost 31k fall damage. I then went to jump out of that same tower in the same way but on my own to see what the difference is and I only took about 20k fall damage.

Does the force of gravity get stronger when your hit with a knock back effect? Even though I was hit by an enemy javelin which sent sent me flying in a direction parallel to the ground, x direction, it should NOT affect the force of gravity on my character in a direction perpendicular to the ground, y direction. Anyone else notice this unrealistic non-immersive broken damage?

BTW, this is not a thread about fall damage being too high in general. There are pleanty of threads on that already. This is about the broken fall damage caused by just being knocked off a ledge by a player.

Sounds like it’s accounting for the extra force of the blow maybe? You would take more damaged from being forced off a ledge versus casually falling off a ledge. Your speed and therefore the impact would be greater with the extra force exerted on your body.

It’s like hitting a tree in your car going 50 mph vs 25 mph.

My logic is assuming ZOS cares about physics and didn’t just make it that way for no logical reason....like so many other things!

That's just it, there is no additional force in the direction towards the ground. When you get hit with a knock back effect, it knocks you back, not down. The only force drawing us down to the ground is gravity which wouldn't change just because you got hit by something. Knock back should only affect how far from the ledge you land, not how fast you are moving towards the ground. There would have to be a force exerted on the character, other than gravity and in the same direction as gravity, to cause a greater acceleration and that's not present. Again, this is assuming ZOS cares about physics.

That might be considered reading to much into a video game but it's a fair question to ask why the extra 50% damage when there is no clear indication what's causing it.
