I solo it regularly on my non pet mag sorc. The trick is keeping the ads in AOE and dropping your ult on them. DPS the boss second. The destro ult paired with WoE and False Gods pretty much ensures that I have a full magicka bar whenever ads are present.

I had soloed the likes of the other world bosses with over 3 mil hp (sure it took a bit of time, but got it done); but, this damn Wily boss only has 1.8 mil hp. The problem is not Wily itself, but those damn terror birdie minions. My DK tank is 50k hp, has max spell/physical resist and even 23% into Ironclad. I'm dropping Talons on them with Turn Evil and both giving about 23% damage mitigation. That plus my Igneous Shield with 12k damage mitigation and Green Blood and Rally for heal; yet, those birdies are still tearing up my tank. They are also just draining all my stamina when blocking. Magma Shell only helps for a bit.
This is just crazy. One of the lowest hp world boss pit, but to me, have to be one of the toughest to solo. Those other bosses aren't doing nearly as much damage on my tank as these terror birds. Even with a dd with lower hp and resist, this pit can be crazy to solo. Those birdie minions are brutal. Sheesh.. I'm not calling any nerfing, but, if any had soloed this pit with a tank, please share. Ha ha. I can barely get any damage to them. I'm just on defense almost practically all the time.

I soloed it with my Necro tank, using scythe and damage shield combo regularly (and keeping my buffs up). But it took ages and I wiped a fair amount before managing to complete it, because if I put a foot wrong, it was over.
The key was focusing entirely on killing those adds, before getting a little damage in on the boss. Combining both by "herding" them towards the boss seemed to help.

On bosses with lot of adds those two sets are amazing, try it.
