The Pocket Watcher is at least a new pet, not a reskin. The mount is a harder sell, and would wipe out my gems saved up.

Most of us are disgusted with the gem system, and crown crates in general.

What is so off putting about a monthly fee for everyone? Like mandatory ESO+ for everyone? Everyone wants to jump on a game that is free to play after initial purchase, but with the greedy pandering of ZOS and our constant criticism on performance, just make the game have a mandatory fee! It would give ZOS a steady income stream so they wouldn't have to worry so much about selling their souls on the crown store and could have more freedom to focus on other things.

Some players would absolutely jump ship if they were required to pay, but when the player base is just disgusted with how things are it can't be good for ZOS morale.

I've seen one watcher, and I really like it. I have the gems available that I could easily afford either the mount or the pet.

I will not be getting one. I cannot participate in a system that is so blatantly a cash grab.

I would have happily bought the watcher pet immediately for crowns if it were offered in the crown store , but I'll be damned if I'm going to buy enough gamble crates to farm enough gems to get it. If they don't want my money, I guess I'll keep it for myself.

    Favorite Foods and Potions
    https://media.giphy.com/media/3otPoTggaYFNd1FdAI/giphy.gif
    • Parse Food for PvE:(DPS) Ghastly Eye Bowl (increases Max Magicka by 4592 and Magicka Recovery by 459 for 2 hours).
    • Gold/Purple Food for Sorc PvP and Meme Tanking:(PvP) Clockwork Citrus Filet (increases Max Health by 3326, Health Recovery by 406 [useful if stage 1 vampire], Max Magicka by 3080, and Magicka Recovery by 338 for 2 hours). Witchmother's Potent Brew (Increase Max Magicka by 2856, Max Health by 3094, and Magicka Recovery by 315 for 2 hours.
    • Trash Potions when feeling cheap: Regular CP150 Essence of Magicka pots that I obtain frequently from playing the game or Crown Tri-Restoration Potion obtained from dailies.
    • Crafted Potions: Essence of Spell Critical (Bugloss, Lady's Smock, and Water Hyacinth). Without magelight this is my primary means of obtaining Major Prophecy on my Sorc, which increases my Spell Critical Rating. This also heals and restores magicka. Essence of Immovability (Columbine, Corn Flower, and Wormwood). I use this in PvP, since this gives me stealth detection, knockback immunity, and restores magicka (better to use it when competent allies are nearby, since it might reveal that you are surrounded by multiple players in stealth and you will not have an emergency pot available after use). Essence of Invisibility with only 2 ingredients (Blue Entoloma, Namira's Rot, Nirnroot, or Spider Egg). I use this in PvE content that requires stealth and if I need more speed I'll use Rapid Maneuver before using the potion. Essence of Invisibility with 3 ingredients (Blessed Thistle, Blue Entoloma, and Namira's Rot). Very useful in PvP alongside the vampire Dark Stalker passive, since you'll be invisible, ignore movement speed penalty while in Crouch, and you'll have a 30% movement speed boost from Major Expedition (I always have this slotted when riding from point A to B in PvP land, since gankers are always lurking). My templar/arcanist will mostly use Essence of Health (Tri-Stat Potion) Ingredients: (Mountain Flower, Columbine, and Bugloss).

Is that why its called a "Pocket Watcher"?

I thought it was named more after the idea of the "Eye of the Beholder" from DND (eye/watch= same thing), and pocket because its small. Most beholders were larger.

I think it's really cute but I refuse to buy crown crates, so I won't ever have it. I guess they are trying to keep it as some kind of "elite" pet, only for those who are willing to spend a lot of money in the crown store. I buy crowns, but not for crates. If the watcher pet was just for crowns, I probably would have bought crowns to get it. But I'm not doubling or tripling the amount of money this would cost if it were 300 crowns, just to hope to get enough garbage in the crates to trade for gems. Thanks again for nothing, ZOS.

The Pocket Watcher is not the first 300 gem pet. The HollowJack Netch and Ice Nixad were both 300 apiece.
Whether they're all worth it is subjective. The more troubling aspect is that there's a sub-community here that continuously bashes anyone they feel fits an outdated gamer stereotype. As far as I'm concerned, it says more about that sub-community than it does about anyone who happens to have a crown gem exclusive or two or seventeen.

Just let people enjoy what they want to enjoy in the game.
