[Suggestion] Phasing Options for Caves/Delves/Dungeons

Let's face it, the dungeons in game are a joke. Ok, I take it back...the dungeons don't suck, but having OPEN dungeons certainly do. What's heroic or exciting about being forced into a pack of 20 people to kill the same 13 baddies scattered through a cave? And the dungeon clear, you ask? Ha! You can get that without even touching the boss. Or waiting for the Boss to respawn at the end where a pack of 6 are already camping so that you may or may not get any loot from it. This is all thanks to the XP/Loot grind that people already do at the boss...let's face it, it's a horrible situation.

What I propose is a simple (or at least it sounds simple, obviously coding is a different thing) checkbox in the settings that allow you to select if you want to have Private or Public caves/dungeons/delves. Public is the standard, you get to go into the cave with everyone else. little/no phasing is done here.

Private phasing should be explained a bit more. While in a cave, delve, or dungeon, if you have your options set to Private, you will go in alone. If you are in a party or a raid, the group leader must have their option set to Private, at which time, the entire group would be pulled into the cave, delve, or dungeon together, separate from the public domain. To prevent farming, implementing a simple "one and done" system is more than enough. If you decide you want to go into a private cave, you give up the ability to grind a boss for hours on end for loot and XP. Private phasing is a means to experience the content, without the nonsense a Public Cave brings.

Suggested Options
Cave/Delve/Dungeon Phasing
  • Private - Solo, Party, or Raid
  • Public (Checked by default)

Thanks for your time!

NOTE: This is not a complaint about how you play the game! I want you to be able to enjoy the game the way you want to! Please, feel free to farm that boss until your heart is content! I don't want to change the way YOU play the game, but I should have the option to play it the way I want to as well!

I feel about the same way. I have been into caves that are farmed so bad I couldn't even see the boss when it popped because of the dead bodies around it. I see they have a fix for it in the patch notes, I hope that maybe this fixes the issue. The problem is the "fix" in the notes only stops you from looting. It still means the boss with have a bunch of people around it and attacking it to the point where they die to quick.

To me, this simple fix would mean the world. I'm mostly enjoying my time with ES:O, but nothing infuriates me quite like the small public dungeons where I'm funneled down its long, forgotten hallways with 5-8 other people. I'm okay with people in my Elder Scrolls game, but they need to severely reduce the amount of people in these tiny locations, or give us a private copy.

    This gets my +1.

This is the first suggestion I've seen to alleviate the "problem" of farming bosses that is actually good. I really hate that Zenimax is caving in to the people that are complaining about this. I totally agree with finding a way to destroy botting, but I've yet to experience any major problems with being able to kill the boss for delve completion, especially since you don't need to actually do enough damage to loot the boss to get credit for the delve.

Better way, than the crap the devs posted with their timer ...

This is a GREAT idea. Not so sure as to how Simple it would be to implement, but I love the idea. ZOS, please do this, soon. Thank you for all your hard work. Love the game!!!

I agree it is fun to be able to fight a dungeon by yourself or only with a few people, but the way they are going about it with 'timers' isn't the best plan. I like the phasing Idea too, and its not like there isn't already phasing in the game. However server stress might kick up WAY too high if everyone starts phasing into their own instance....

Well said. I would love a system like this to give me the option to be able to practice with new skills and abilities. At present it's hard to test out new skills/abilities and study their effects when there's always so many other players around blindly killing anything they can target.

Agreed. The moments I've been able to explore a dungeon alone with my husband have been the BEST moments I've had in this game. I'm not anti-social. I like playing with others. I just feel like the open world should be bustling and social and dungeons should be lonely and mysterious. Right now, my experience in the game is the opposite.
