Sai Sahan in ESO after Main Quest [Spoilers]

So I have a quick question out of curiosity. During the main quest you need to sacrifice a character. I always sacrificed Varen. But what happens during the prologue of Dragonguard when you played the main quest before the prologue and sacrifized Sai Sahan? Is he still there? Is there some special explanation how he survived?
