Big boosts of speed on your mount by rapidly pressing Sprint

Could ZOS please provide a video on how to actually do it or what it looks like? When I release the sprint key to try it, all it does is drop me out of mount sprint. I do not see any big boosts of speed, nor do I see any advantage in constantly dropping out of sprint compared to just maintaining a sprint.

Yes, horses can sprint indefinitely without consuming stamina. That said, stamina is still valuable for two other reasons: It protects you from being dismounted when attacked, and if you rapidly press the sprint key you will get big boosts of speed on your mount (but at a much higher stamina cost). Of note, only horse mounts have the endless sprint trait. Other upcoming mount types will have different special traits.

It's easier to notice if you're riding next to someone else.
For example, continously pressing the sprint-key between keeps in Cyrodiil can make the difference between getting there in time to save it or lose it.
What you do is : Sprint, release the sprint key for like 0.5sec (pay attention to the difference in animation so you're not re-pressing the key too quickly) and then press it again, hold it down for 2-3sec, release the sprint-key for 0.5sec and then press it again. Rinse and repeat.
Every time you press the sprint-key a portion of that stamina will be consumed, so your amount of stamina will run out quicker when doing this. It becomes a risk vs reward thing in Cyrodiil where you can easily get dismounted when low on stamina after being attacked by someone.The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Let's keep Cyrodiil out of this for the moment. I'm just talking about straight riding without the complication of worrying about getting attacked.
As soon as I release the sprint key, it changes animation into slowing down and I'm immediately out of Sprint.
When I re-engage, it has the giddy-up start up animation instead of a boost of speed.
I don't see how trying to switch it on and off is superior to just holding down the Sprint key.

Not exactly? They patched it out, put it back in, then now they are going to patch it out again with less stamina drain. Last I checked, mount sprint continued when the mount stamina ran out.
As for the "big boosts of speed" I am starting to think it never worked and the answer provided in https://www.elderscrollsonline.com/en-us/news/post/1019 was smoke designed to save face for a bug they couldn't fix at the time.
When they leave it in but have a CP perk for infinite out-of-combat sprint... doesn't make sense at all.Edited by Dusk_Coven on October 9, 2019 9:56PM0 -

✭This still works. If you don't believe it to be a benefit, race someone who just holds down sprint while you spam the sprint key (not super fast but in a rhythm with the animation). As another poster above said mount sprint will be changed next update and can be previewed on pts right now.PC/NA
