State of Necromancy in Tamriel

It's terrible. To choose to play as a Necromancer is to choose to underperform at whatever role you're going to play. This recent patch has done nothing to solve this imbalance, but rather further push classes out of balance. It just feels like the combat team has learned nothing over the years of running this game.

I remember in the early days after the announcement of ESO, when we were being given snippets of the plot, hearing about how Mannimarco would be a central figure. I remember thinking that certainly it was going to be great to play as a Necromancer on this game, I mean how could they not implement Necromancy if the King of Worms of all people was central to the plot? Well, it wasn't added then, and it would be 5 years before any of us would get a chance to play as a Necromancer.

Was it worth the wait? No, not in the least. Just a broken, buggy class added to a broken buggy game. In trying to find joy in playing as the Necromancer, the class I had waited since pre-alpha days to play on this game, I have come to realize this game brings me no joy.

So TLDR, I'm unsubscribing, thanks for finally adding Necromancer as a reflection of the game as a whole; a broken awkward underperforming mess of a thing to play.

imagine being a necromancer yet not being able to summon a zombie or melee skeleton. (:

    Can I have your stuff???

My 2 cents....I partly argee with some of what you said. Was the Necro what I imagined them to be, no. The pet system to me was...not what I expected. They seemed to me to mirror Wardens to me. (Mag being weak and stam being good.)

But as far as being underperforming....I'm going to have to disagree with you. True magcro has issues...(blastbones, weak teathers), but my Necro-Tank is a beast. Speaking mostly from a PVE vet dlc dungeon runner. I can pull a pug through HM vet DLC dungeons. I'm un-killable...have access to good heals (Scythe, plus ghost) keeps me alive. Don't even need the Bone ult. The ult that revives all team mates is what i use (or Warhorn) and it has saved my groups from a countless wipes...(remember I said I pug a lot)

Stamina necros are all the rage in Endgame pve so they aren't useless either. Granted that ultimate might be the cause for that.)

So to me it only seems like the magcro got the short end if the stick. Sad honestly because I'm a HUGE necro fan. Played one in every single Elder Scrolls game. And a necro is suppose to excel in the magic department...even by lore standards.

I'm assuming this is another imbalance PVP thread? Ok I'll put another dollar in my jar.

I mean, I think magcro could use a lot of work, and the "pets" (that aren't blastbones at least) are just DOTS in disguise.

Not to mention that the only skill that animates multiple undead, summons Bugbones of all things..

That being said, Stamcros, Tank necros, and Healer necros seem to be quite good right now.

Thought this was gonna be an RP thread from the title. Disappointed.

Was gonna say necromancy in Tamriel is in a great spot, lots of fresh bodies. :)
