Why are so many countries exluded from yet another contest??

✭I agree that ZOS should restrain from offering contests which could divide the community. Someone could feel discriminated. Apparently they do care about some subscribers more that the others.
So because a small percentage of folks might get offended let's just not do stuff.
You know a small percentage of folks find video games as a whole offensive? Let's just get rid of them too so as to not divide humanity.
Or you know, simply stop bringing physical goods into the equation and make the contest about virtual items instead, thus you can suddenly bring everyone into the mix.
But no, a T-Shirt and an Artwork has to ensure that plentiful of countries cannot participate in the attempt to win crowns, a digital game and a virtual cave home.
Smart logic, very smart, especially when you could simply have made a contest everyone of their playerbase could've participated in.
Or they could just do what they are and exclude those countries who have laws that prohibit them. Instead of being upset at zos about the contest YOUR country prohibits you from being able to enter, maybe you should be upset at your country. After all it is them that prohibits it.

Contests such as this is NOT prohibeted in either Denmark or Sweden. We have seen them before from many games companies, INCLUDING Zenimax Online Studios.
Some possible explanations for this are that new legislation was passed that now prohibits them or that the company that they use for the contests now for whatever reason is unable to do contests in those countries.3 -

Andy, Scandinavian countries have been able to participate in previous Sweepstakes such as the $1 Million Dollar contest as well as the Trip contest. It seems very odd that a Scandinavian country wouldn't be able to participate in this one. I never heard of any regulations or laws, that Sweden cannot participate in other countries Sweepstakes/contests. Online betting and gambling is extremely popular in Sweden.

I agree, It's like sending a message to this "worse" part of world.
At contests in the past that was quite obvious (ok, I understand that I can't get million bucks becouse my country would put in in jail becouse only goverment can make lotteries and gets profit) but for Arkay's beard! what is wrong with giving something some VIRTUAL coins. It has no real value becouse selling it is against tos.

✭Some of you may be using a wrong key word in your arguments, depending on the country in question.
The key word is not "prohibited", rather "taxed". Virtual and physical prizes alike. In some cases perhaps the sweepstakes and lotteries as such, no matter the prizes value.

They exclude states and countries because the current LOCAL LAWS prohibit the contest, sweepstakes, giveaway.
It's better for ZoS if everyone can participate. They have absolutely NO reason to exclude anyone EXCEPT where LOCAL LAW requires them to.
