I don't mind it, and I think it is smart way of tying everything together and to motivate more DLC sales.

I just hope they never do it for dungeon DLCs. I do not like those and that will never change.

Considering substantive content expansions are among the most innocuous ways of monetizing a game post-launch, I would not be pointing a finger of fault at this. This is hardly as onerous as... just about everything else in the cash shop.

It's truly sad that such a great game ended up in the hands of a mediocre corporation. It's pretty clear that ZOS and it's employees care not about Elder Scrolls Online. They only care about how much money they can rake online.

So apparently a green piece of paper with engravings is more important than the state of the game.

Oh yeah! So long as players continue to blindlessly purchase these things, the players are the problem and allow for these things to happen.

Got to love people complaining. A game has to make money to continue development, and this event has zos shelling out money as donations to cat rescues. So it's not ENTIRELY greed based as some think. Hell most people on here dont even have a clue what business practices are now days. What worked in 2000 wont work today.

As opposed to a regular MMO, where you have to buy the expansion to get the level cap increase, to get the new capped gear, so you can keep playing 'endgame' PvP . (and 'endgame' anything else)

Anet biggest mistake was not coming to console. They stubbornly focused on LS instead of a console port like originally planned...really dumb mistake for such a great dev team/company.

While it's certainly clear where the prioritize of Zenimax and its subsidiaries are lately, this is not an isolated trend in the video gaming industry. There are a number of video games journalists that have been covering this, and I recommend any lover of video games look into it to become more aware of what's been going on. It's something I'd been too complacent about until recently because for the most part, I simply do not play games that incorporate predatory microtransactions.

As you start digging into the fall of the video gaming industry into copious amounts of predatory microtransactions and monetization schemes, you will also learn that in most respects, the players are unwitting participants or even victims (see for example - https://kotaku.com/meet-the-19-year-old-who-spent-over-10-000-on-microtra-1820854953). The video game industry would certainly love it if we all embraced the narratives that "the players are the problem" as it serves their agenda, but let's be smarter than that. Games are designed in ways that deliberately manipulate/coerce players into microtransactions by taking advantage of how human psychology works. A wide variety of tactics are employed to snare different types of people in their traps. Some level of consumer protections are necessary to counteract this and it has gotten so bad that it has finally drawn the attention of multiple governments worldwide.

Don't forget: You can now earn Event Tickets in-game by slaying monsters in Elsweyr! This includes the Moongrave Fane dungeon because it’s located in Northern Elsweyr.

Haven't they previously done events (including ones which award tickets) in Clockwork City, Vvardenfell, Summerset (no tickets then I know), Thieves Guild, Dark Brotherhood and Orsinium?

I'm sure this is not the first time we've had an event which required access to a DLC or chapter map, and yet I'm seeing so many people acting like they can't believe ZOS would ever do something like that.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again “micro transactions” aren’t really new. The virtual side of it, sure. Obviously computers are a new thing in terms of how long humans have been around. The idea of selling people something they don’t need but making them want it really badly is how business has worked for hundreds of years though, from snake oil peddlers to infomercial king pins like good ol’ Billy Mays.

Fact is, you either buy it or you don’t. If you don’t, someone else will. This is why your opinion or mine doesn’t really matter. I don’t mean that to be a ***, but if you or I are not spending money, no one cares what we’re saying. Money talks. Doesn’t matter if it’s morally/ethically right or wrong, it’s reality and it will never change because this isn’t some altruistic sci fi movie where nothing has monetary value and everyone is fully provided for and no one works because robots do everything for us.

Don’t like it? Leave. It’s better to not let it stress you out if you’re not having fun, ya know? Or realize it isn’t a big deal and keep playing because an event ticket doesn’t actually equate to anything truly important.

Honestly the only thing I don’t like about their cash shop is the crates. If I’m going to pay for something I don’t want a “chance” at it. I want “IT”. Buying DLC is fine, or sub and get it, that’s also fine. People don’t work for free and employees need to be paid.

    whats next?

I know man! It was the same way with Dark Brotherhood/Theive's Guild event. I was shocked and stunned to learn that I needed to have access to Dark Brotherhood/Thieve's Guild DLC in order to just participate in the Dark Brotherhood/Thieves Guild event! What's next? I'll tell you what's next. I've been on the PTS and I can confirm that in order to do access the zone of the next DLC you will have to have access to the DLC! The greed is out of control!
