Succession inferno staff shouldn't be harder to get than a maelstrom one?!?

Does anyone one else feel this is a little ridiculous that it's easier to get a vma inferno than succession inferno staff?

I mean, it has a three times(?) larger loot pool, but I wouldn't say it's harder to get. The content is certainly a lot easier and quicker to do.

If you're farming a standard Maelstrom set, just do the first round. Drop quest, do first round, drop quest, do first round, etc etc. It's easiest and fastest. Even on normal I couldn't stand that poison or ice level.

I was thinking the opposite, actually. There's an event coming up (Witches Festival) in which you're rewarded for killing an arena final boss. So it might make sense to run some characters through rounds 1-8 before then, and do the round 9 on various days of the event.

That’s the one that awards Dremora motifs that actually sell for decent amounts. Yeah, not a bad plan so long as you don’t mind having to wait for the event after you’ve run all your characters through 1-8.

You can get weapons from only doing the first stage? I thought you could only get weapons/jewelry from the last three stages.

Also Op, I feel your pain. I havent gotten a single succession weapon, much less a fire staff lmao

You are partly right and partly wrong. If you want to farm set pieces for body, the way you explained works but this way it takes even longer to get any set piece because of quest dropping and all. 2nd jewellery you only get in 7 and 8 stages. 3rd OP is asking about the Weapon, which only drops in last stage.
The only way to farm it to do the whole trial till end. Wrothgar event helps it a lot with double drop, however in my experience from last event, I did 30-40 normal+ vet runs and got every weapon but this Inferno. I even got 3 winterborn ice and inglfernonstaves but no Succession inferno. Its rarer than vMA inferno cause I managed to get 5 VMA INFERNO in these runs.

Oof, that's brutal. At least it's a farmable one on normal. I haven't ever used the Maelstrom sets besides the special weapons, shows what I know lol

I farmed during double drops with the Wrothgar event and got multiple, but I would trade a few of them for a winter born ice staff haha

Weapons from these sets (succession, winterborn,glorious defender, etc...) only drops from last round.

Jewellery can drop from stage 8 and 9. Body pieces from stage 1-7. Farming those weapons are probably the worst grind in the game. Back before actually fixed a bug with the loot table for these sets (I was the one to report the bug about this in Horns of the Reach) I spend 3+ months (7-8 runs/week) farming the weapons for some of the specific sets in maelstrom.

They do exists but are a pain to grind.

Have both Inferno and Lightning Succession staves ... but no Winterborn Ice Staff after 70+ runs on vet and normal.

That's what I'm trying to say, it not even meta bc they put two max magic bonus instead of crit in the set and it's almost non existant.
I hate when they try and make me play more so their end of the month numbers look good or bc they will not make a second one and are forcing collectors to continue running dungeon to make it viable.
The RNG based drop loot is a bogus way for loot anyway but they love it. What they don't realize is ppl get fed up with this kinda junk and quit due to loss of motivation and patience.

I have now done maelstrom arena over one hundred times and still haven't gotten one succession inferno staff. It started with me trying to get a maelstrom inferno, which took nineteen tries, to me continuing to switch normal and vet for succession. I continued to count and by 40 was very angry but over time felt like I was in an absurdity comedy.

In the last three weeks I have run normal maelstrom at least once a day during the week and at least twice on each weekday. I've written customer service and provided feedback to the developers. The only reply is my luck could change at any moment. It is astounding to me I would have to do it so many times and still not get it, especially knowing the weapons only drop on the final boss.

While I understand these games are designed to be addictive and constantly have us seeking something, this experience had made me despise the game and get no enjoyment out of it. The only reason I've gone on is to do maelstrom and immediately log off. Not sure but thinking this will result in me no longer playing.

Until the loot system is fixed, I've learned not to create builds with a dungeon/arena set for weapons/jewellery. I'll farm body sets from dungeons, but make sure weapons/jewellery is crafted or BoE (and buy it from guild traders then).

I learned this when farming for a Storm Master set simply for a fun solo build, aiming for two infused dagger drops. After I lost count of my attempts I told myself I would accept any kind of 1H weapons, and in any trait, and would transmute them afterwards. I started offering other people in my groups 50k gold if they got a 1H Storm Master weapon. Eventually one of them got one! And it was an infused dagger! But it was a CP30 weapon

Until they implement changes like trading weapons also changing their level to match yours, AND a token system for every dungeon (like key fragments in Imperial City dungeons) where once you have X amount you can buy any set piece item of your choice (I wouldn't even mind if the trait is randomised), or just simply make them BoE (they'll still be rarer and therefore more expensive than overland sets) I've decided the farm isn't worth it. I have better things to do with my life than sink literally dozens of hours into running the same dungeons again and again for a 2% drop chance. And in the case of dual wield weapons, doing that twice. I dread to think how bad it is for you guys farming Maelstrom set weapons

oh yes, the pleasures of the RNGod. While I was quite lucky in getting the complete vet weapon set (including inferno/lightning staves) even with usable traits in maybe 20 runs, I've yet to see that succession staff drop

You know what's even more ridiculous? Weapons from 5pc maelstrom sets can't appear in your weekly Maelstrom rewards. I don't have time to farm succession inferno all day and night. I thought about doing 1 vMA a week for weekly rewards with multiple characters to double my chances of getting the staff with minimum time spent. However, I was terribly wrong and after few weeks (when I realized that weapons don't appear in weekly rewards) I ended up doing normal only whenever I have spare 25 minutes.

Can't even get BSW inferno staff to drop, can't understand why unless it's a case of ZOS making it hard due to it being BIS a while ago, but now why not adjust drops, just plain lazy.
