Question: Why crowns to gold price varies so much between NA & EU?

Title says it all. I've seen people sell from 300 to 450 here on EU while NA TCE crown price seems to be 200, with lows going as far as 100 per crown. Any expert in economics or something can explain this to me?

I would be curious to find out as well, becasue its not just crowns that are twice as expensive on EU. for whatever reason in WoW for example - gold cost of a subscription token is twice as high on EU vs US. I mean, its just 2 games that I can think of, but its still an interesting coincidence. or is it? the reason for price disparity would be fascinating to figure out.

The factors are too many to list but the shorter answer is: supply and demand.

It is a market pinned to the economy of the game and subject to its influences. It sounds simple when I say it but I have in mind so many tangible reasons as to why it is so.

Perhaps to do with currency conversion and the different cost of subs/crowns depending on currency. I'd assume the US pays the least for their crowns, while there are many different European countries, some probably get shafted. Just my two pennies

Nah NA Players dont pay half price for crowns. Maybe NA Players are fairer.

It's odd, Xbox is about 100-125. The odd person might be talked into 150 but regulars ask for 100 it seems.

It's like guild subs, not a thing in EU, is in NA. Odd.

And surely housing sets the price?

If a house is 100 crowns and 100,000 gold, that's the rate. If its lower everyone going to use gold to buy it cheaper than the gold price lol

housing prices are variable though. the bigger the house, the cheaper the gold vs crowns rate. for example, unfurnished medium home would cost 4000 crowns or 300k gold. (numbers are approximate, can't check exact numbers at the moment, but its a decently accurate approximation) at the same time, unfurnished manor would cost 9000 crowns or.. 3,5 million gold. see the discrepancy? so which rate of conversion do you use? and it still doesn't explain the cost differences for average player to player transactions, at least on PC.

I'll bet on us server having more people, increasing the availability of crown sellers, and also on Americans being far more aggressive as a culture when it comes to doing business.

For clarification, I play on both servers, and I play on off hours on both, and on equivalent time of the day, EU is a wasteland compared to NA, on PC that is. I'm on two big trading guilds, one big social, and two smaller trading guilds on EU, a with 450-500 people, and sometimes. I can't count 50 players between them all. On NA lowest hours on my similar guild setup (2 big, 2 small, one social, also all with 450-500) I still get over 150 guildies among them all.

It's mainly due to our price conversion and taxes. It's like going to aus and expecting things to cost the same in usd as it does in the us.

Yep. If NA is cheaper than EU, then that suggests NA players are far more eager to spend extra money on in-game stores after buying a game than EU players are. WoW tokens have pointed clearly to this trend for years now, since that's a price that players have no control over themselves, yet it's the same end result - NA tokens much cheaper than EU tokens, because there are far more NA players willing to buy them to sell on.

Presumably, this also plays out in loot box and cosmetic sales, with NA players being more likely to buy them than EU players. But I don't think we'll see the day a publisher reveals that sort of sales breakdown anytime soon

PS4 NA 100 gold per Crown is common with 130 gold being the upper limit. It's been this way for many weeks. Recently, some Crown sellers have dipped as low as 85 gold per Crown for large volume.

The extremely high rate on PC is puzzling to us console players. Perhaps we have a much larger supply of Crowns.

The higher rate on EU servers is more puzzling, since Euros have been 10% to 25% more valuable than US Dollars over the past year.

Not surprising, cuz its like this in every game. NA is more receptive to buying in most games. In EU there are lots of countries with different economic background so people tend to buy less.

I agree with this, and it can also be other factors accounting for the discrepancy, such the population in the server, the average hours they play, and the demographic of said players.

Yes its weird, almost expected crowns to be more expensive on consoles as ingame items tend to be more expensive in guild stores. Later is easy to explain PC has trading tools and farming tools, also bots.

EU pays higher taxes on things, and the money is worth more,so hence higher prices. The rates I seen and got is NA : 150-200 per crown, and EU 250-350 per crown, since it depends on seller really. The exchange that ppl seal with supposedly safer, but its a way for them to influence and set rate higher.Since it's other ppl's real earned money from working, and your free run around playing games for gold,I'm suprised it's not higher cost per crown really.

I think a lot of it has to do with populations, Eu seems to be about a third the population of the Na server. Smaller supply so higher prices.
