I really want to give a shout out to all the women that play ESO (and all games for that matter). I cannot recall ever playing content with a female that wasn't either really good or still learning but soaking up all the knowledge possible undaunted by a little grind to achieve greatness. They're driven and always seem to learn really fast, at least quicker than the majority of us men, lol.

My first mentor in ESO was a gal named Cassie Anne (sadly she stopped playing and I haven't seen her for 3 1/2 years but if you're reading this TY...I've gotten much better thanks to you, lol). 3 out of my 4 guilds are managed by women who run them like clockwork. I could go on and on but really what I'm getting at is we respect and enjoy playing with you!

Lastly, lets give a round of applause to all the ladies of ESO :)

In general, I have been seeing a trend towards more female gamers since the 80s, and that’s a good thing. Anything that increases the number of players is good for the games, and I know there would be much less arguing with my spouse over what to do during my free time if my wife was more into ESO.

Not only do I game, but I reproduced and made MOAR gamers. Their gamerscores exceed my own. I’m so proud. 😭

😁 But seriously, thanks for the love, OP. It’s great to see lots of men and women enjoying games together. That’s how it should be. 🥂

Hey thanks! Applause is nice and all, but all I (and probably many other womenz) want is to be treated normally should someone become aware of my gender. I let people assume I'm a dude unless asked or if I go into voice with a pug group, because their behavior toward me changes probably 80% of the time they learn I'm not a dude. I'm referring solely to guys' reactions, not other women.

It's largely a "positive" change, in a sense- they're much more patient when they realize I've got boobs. But I don't *want* to be able to die more or perform worse than others and get away with it due to my gender. I'd rather be subject to the same standards as everyone else.

In other cases they just make it weird- I've had a few in-game friends whose immediate response upon learning that I'm le female is "so you single?". Guys.... if you're looking to meet someone in-game that's cool, I know it's fairly common. But don't straight instantly out ask any female player that you meet if they're single. That reeks of desperation and is weird. Don't be weird.

But yeah, we ARE awesome and I'm thankful for all of the awesome women who I've had the chance to meet too :)

People are individuals. You will find all kinds/types of gamers out there, both male and female. My wife got me started on WoW and MMO gaming back when I was a workaholic and MMO's were fairly new. She has always been a more casual gamer than I have been. I would not call her driven in any way shape or form when it comes to her MMO gaming. She is smart enough (Got her Masters Degree), but she had no desire to do end game raiding like I was doing. Nor does she haunt the forums like I do, so you will not see her posting here.

To give you an example of her drive, we have both been playing ESO just short of 6 months now. I have 3 level 50 characters, and I don't think that she has a level 50 yet. I think her highest is level 49 at this time. She is enjoying herself, taking her time and playing the story line on several classes/characters. She is not driven to push for a level 50. It's not important to her.

I'm sure that for every example that you come up with, others can come up with their own counter example of a different individual.

During the course of my MMO gaming, I have met lots of older women that game. During my WoW years, I was in a guild that was composed of lots of married couples and families with children. Sometimes I would be helping a family of 4 in doing a 5-man dungeon.

I've also met lots of retired grandmothers that game. They had lots of free time to do the MMO grind if they wanted to.

Lastly, I'll second the round of applause for the MMO gaming ladies. I'm married to one. :)

An AWESOME for you my friend! Yep, I'm female, an older one (nearly 72). I fall into Thorvik's "retired grandmothers" gamers there! I've been playing MMOs since 2006, and single player FCRPGs since 1985. Now that I'm retired (for the third time, and hopefully it sticks this time!) this game (and other TES games) are my hobby.

Thanks for being you Odovacar. I always enjoy your posts.

Excuse me? 72? Hats off to you for putting up with some of us kids and still playing MMOs. I'll be hitting 27 next year and was complaining about getting old and feeling old/panicking and having a mid-life crisis.

It genuinely amazes me (not in a pitied way but like an "AWESOME" way) to see older people playing games.

My own experience with the fair gender of ESO is limited. My last little social guild had a couple women, one of them i helped grasp the concept of rotations, and i think that was the catalyst of her going on to excel in the end game, which is nice, that i helped. A couple others were very friendly, and actually quite older than me. It actually opened my eyes into how many elder people play mmorpg's.

One other though was the GM of a Trials Guild who had i believe just started their progression runs. Shortly after i joined, i saw them complete a Trial with an unusually low score, like a score that must have been bugged it was so bad. When i quite genuinely asked in guild chat why their score was so low, she jumped down my throat about it, cursing me out in Spanish, then English. I tried talking it over with the Guild but the damage was already done. Didn't want to bother dealing with a GM with such a fragile Ego.

Even still I'm not of the mind that you're typically worse at gaming just because of your sexual organs, I'm positive there's numerous great female gamers out there, and that's a neat thing.

@Odovacar and @rohunt : Guys, it's people like you who have made my gaming journey a really great one. For years when I played first WoW and then RIFT, I never told anyone I was female (lots of water under those bridges for sure). Of course, my family who played both with me (and made up the majority of the guilds I ran in both games) knew, but they never told either.

But now, it's a decade down the road, and it's less of an issue for the most part, at least in the TES/ZOS game arena (eh, pun a bit intended). So now I'm happy to say who I really am, and provide a bit of backstory.

As for worse at gaming, @ArchMikem - it's not my organs, it's my reflexes! And as with Odovacar, I always enjoy your posts too!

I have met some of the world's best people on this forum. I'm glad I'm here.

I say we give an awesome to everyone. Doesn't matter if you are male, female, blue, green what ever. This is the time of EQUALITY and to single any group out, is not being equal.

Nobody is better than anyone else, and we all deserve the same otherwise, were are just reinforcing inequality and then we are back to square one.

So I say let's give an applause to ever human who loves gaming and ESO and is generally a nice human. :)

    ....

Me too, my sons are really good at the game.
I don't tell the older one that though because he already patronises me about not having the same reflexes that they do :D

I also think it's important to give a shout out to the people ( be it male, female, alien daedra, whatever ) that play this game who are patient and kind enough to take the time to explain things, be it dungeon mechanics or anything else, without resorting simply to "git gud scrub lolololol !11oneone " and ridiculing people who aren't as good at they are.

    Thank you :)

Yeah, I'm another "retired grandmother" gamer. I will turn 70 on Friday. I didn't even start 'gaming' until I was 40 but I was instantly addicted.

Curious, what platform you play? Maybe we can surround you with the cake we got from the event few months back and sing Happy Birthday to you. Or maybe better yet, type it out, I have a horrible voice. :p

We are playing and have been.

I am a senior gamer. First MMO was The Sims Online followed by Star Wars Galaxies.

After the fall of SWG...like so many I alpha and beta tested everything out there. (always nice to have a friend in the gaming industry to get you in)

Even before MMO's. Pong. Then I played Leisure Suit Larry and Hitchhikers Guide on a remote terminal. (Thank you Scientific-Atlanta)

From there, Sega. Sega Online. Nintendo. Playstation and Xbox but I always came back to PC games. Love the control. Programmable mouse and keyboard complement my type of gaming.

Female gamers have always been here and we can play..very well.

Thnx @Odovacar for such a nice post and pointing out such positive things~

As a female gamer the sexual harassment is still sad to see in this game but the majority of the community makes up for the short comings of the few. Such as the Op's post.

Thnx again for such a nice post and "Happy Birthday @Hippie4927" :)

Been gaming since I was old enough to be able to! Mmorpgs since I was 12 Tibia being my first! I find that over the years attitude towards female gamers has changed a lot or maybe I just meet nicer ppl. But before if you said anything that would imply you are female ppl would go "nudes?" <.<
