Templar build?

So I already have my main character which I absoluteness love. He's a nightblade healer. But I've got my buddy to join the game as me and him have always played mmos together from WAR to Rift. Although we both usually make a character that we only play together with.

So I wanted to make a templar. My idea right now is to go with a bow. and maybe down the sun flar line or whatever it's called. Or down the aedric spear line as i like chucking spears at people ;).

But I'm thinking of maybe doing 2 to magic and 1 to stamina in my attribute distribution and wearing heavy armor with health enchantments. The reason for the stamina is I plan on getting some abilities from the bow line as well. So does anyone have a build similar to this or have any suggestions for me as what would be good?

If you are going to use stamina then I would go down the Aedric Spear line. Lots of great dps skills(which I expect some to get a nerf bat, yes I am looking at you Puncturing Strikes). There are also some great morphs in the Dawns Wrath to help if you are going to be melee along with your bow. Restoring Aura seems to be a big favorite for the stamina build as well from the Restoring Light Tree. I personally am playing a healing templar so there is probably some additional advice others can give that can help you more.

There's no reason why you shouldn't level all three skill lines and pick skills from all of them, in fact you should. Binding Javelin (Aedric Spear), Vampire's Bane (Dawn's Wrath) and Honour the Dead (Restoring Light) are all excellent skills to use with a Bowplar.

My opinion if you have a heal on your bar as a bowplar your build is a failure.

With the cc from the bow line morphs, dawns wrath and A Spear lines no mob should ever reach you.

At 30 I can take groups I can take solo pulls I can kite elites. The only time a mob gets to me is because I screwed up.

Vet content I will have to adjust my build but till then bowplar almost seems op.

In regards to your mag/stam balance I don't know if the gains are worth it for stamina as yet - bear in mind I'm mid 30's, but unless the dps on the spear line doubles with stamina I'd rather have the juice to shoot twice...

Mind you I only use my bow bar to kite elites cause packs die better in melee range. And I went redguard, so stam hasn't been a big deal.

I'm thinking in terms of PvP. In PvE any three-legged build can work, for my PvE builds I prioritise the skills and skill lines I want to level rather than what's optimal. In PvP you'll definitely be glad you have a self-heal no matter what build you run.

Pvp I wouldn't go anywhere without a cleanse on at least 1 bar.

Pvp builds need cc, and burst. Not sure if a pure heal (while in dps mode) is a good idea. But I run a pure pvp healer with a secondary cc bar rather than dps.

If you don't have a heal you're unlikely to survive a focused burst from more than one enemy. Unless you're a Sorcerer who can Bolt Escape away.

The early game is easy enough that you should manage with basically anything as a templar, I have. I just take new skills every time I get them so I can have everything morphed and do a respec before its too expensive.
so far I think that restoring auras morph repentance is noteworthy. keep slotted passive slotted 15% stam and health regen and gain: free cost/instant/self gain 100 health 100 stamina per dead enemy-onece per dead enemy. At level 33. gains level with you.I always slot this while in a group or pvp and have been loving it.

Templar's are amazing at everything. 2h is good, bow and destro staff are amazing, healing is great after you have a lvling spec. dual wield is really good after you get the magic based gap closer.

I run a lvl 28 Stamplar, most of my tribute points are in health and stamina. I did put a few points in magic only because of the self heal and dawns wrath on my bar for healing and long range attacks Plus that dawns wrath ultimate is a beast for DPS. now I'm not a vet when it comes to eso but I've made my mistakes with running the hybrid Templar and distributing points equally across the board. After switching to health and stamina with very little Magica I found that I can do a lot of DPS with the right skills and armor equipped and run more effectively.

I tried a hybrid build and while it was fine for 90% of PvE, in dungeons my heals were not really enough to keep my ally alive. We were also just playing in a pair. Although i was 1:1 magicka:stamina not 2:1 so yours might work out better than mine.

A staff can keep your magicka topped off. Even with 0 in magicka i can keep casting spells using a resto staff. (Although they do bugger all)

Instead I've switched to a stamina / health build with 1h & shield for tanking instead although we have yet to test it in a group dungeon.

Build how you want, put it to the test in dungeons and adjust as necessary. You can always respec using gold.

Check out blabafats magicka templar build. He uses a bow and 2 hander and really confused people.
