Taunt in PvP

So taunt is useless in PvP, unless there is a debuff I'm unaware from. Imo I feel taunt should have some sort of viability to promote build diversity. What if it gave a minor buff or something. Like minor and major breech for example. What are your thoughts on this subject?

Well there was Tremorscale which does damage whenever a taunting skill is used, and Puncture (the main taunting skill) provides Major Fracture, with the Pierce Armor morph also granting Major Breach. I believe people complained about Tremorscale "taunt" builds...

    There's also Vanguard's Challenge:

"5 items: When you taunt an enemy Player, they deal 50% less damage to all other Players but 100% more damage to you for 15 seconds. This effect is lost if you enter Sneak, invisibility, or move further than 28 meters away from them."

There's the 5-piece Vanguard set, but it is pretty useless, for it only works on one target, and you cannot go stealth/invisible or be more than X meters away from them otherwise the effect breaks.

I don’t think you really need taunt in pvp.

Warhammer had some interesting mechanics irrc, healers had an ability called detaunt which reduced one player’s damage against them by 50%. I think tanks had an ability to make people switch targets to them briefly?

Either way, you can ‘taunt’ people by being annoying. Necros and DKs have some handy skills for this.
Looking for any guildies I used to play with:
    Havoc Warhammer - Alair
LoC EQ2 - Mayi and Iskiab
PRX and Tabula Rasa - Rift - Iskiab
Or anyone else I used to play games with in guilds I’ve forgotten

Would be cool, tons of ppl will be against it just because they enjoy being negative

No I'm not talking about actually taunting players, but all thesets that work off a taunted players or of you taunt. It would be cool if they had a different buff or debuff it applied on the PvP side

Those sets were already mentioned. Vanguard's Challenge is a PVP BG set. Tremorscale had a brief heyday during the proc set meta, but it's since been outclassed by other monster sets.

ZOS is unlikely to add more, in part because they don't like skills being overloaded with effects and partly because they generally don't give PVP skills more powerful effects than in PVE.

Taunts in PVP are useful it you want the debuff or synergy, or you want to proc one of the sets. Otherwise, they aren't that useful, which isnt terribly surprising when you are trying to taunt a living, thinking opponent.

Ah yeah you're right, I'm on bed rest due to back surgery and eating some strong Valium, didn't actually comprehend what I read. I did give the heavy armor list a look though and came to the conclusion this is a dumb thread xD

It would be fun to see taunt useful in pvp.

Taunt in PvP forces an opponent to focus all single target damage abilities towards the taunter for 6seconds.

Only one player can be taunted at a time.

that sounds awesome, if taunt would instantly change the target's view toward the taunter. You could disrupt any constant assault against one of your team mates, and it should have a reduced cost so it can be spammed
