Choosing a class - Asking for insight

Heya guys. So I purchased Elsweyr and made a stamina necro, however the class feels a bit clunky and slow to me.
I watched some videos on stamina classes and the ones I liked the most were the stamden and stamsorc. With the next patch hitting, which one do you feel like will be the most viable pvp and pve-wise as a damage dealer? Also, which one do you have the most fun on?
Cheers for the replies!

My thinking/guess: go stamwarden. Stamsorc’s pretty good too, I just don’t like that they don’t add anything to the group beyond damage.

    Stam:
    Stamplar > StamDK > Stamwarden > Stamsorc > StamNB > Stamnecro

    Mag:
    Magplar > MagWarden > Magsorc > MagDK > Magnecro > Magblade

Some things are tricky to guess about. Like right now cloak isn’t very useful because of aoe spam knocking NBs out of stealth. If the cost increases change that NBs might shoot up the rankings.

Another thing that will change your answer is where the person plays. If you’re talking running around Cyro solo then NB shoots up, if you’re talking BGs then NBs are close to useless. I also haven’t checked out the Necro changes and am basing them off live.

Looking for any guildies I used to play with:
    Havoc Warhammer - Alair
LoC EQ2 - Mayi and Iskiab
PRX and Tabula Rasa - Rift - Iskiab
Or anyone else I used to play games with in guilds I’ve forgotten

Thanks for your replies! Didn't know stamdk was that high on the list, they seem pretty fun as well with the leap and everything. I've heard they"re quite good for pvp as well

    Consistently near the top.

Think of it this way, damage has been relatively equalized amongst classes with some a little higher than others. So it’s a moot point between classes.

    What separates them:
NBs - cloak, so solo playstyles
DKs - great self healing and tankiness
Templars - self healing and utility
    Wardens - best stam healers
Sorcs - executes for padding BG kills but weak defensively, mobile
Necros - some decent passives, utility abilities lack damage tied to them

Basicly what separates classes is if they can keep themselves alive, mobility and sustain.

Stamwarden’s good, easier time against ranged and melee are more of a threat but they’re good.

Hmm I see, so I should pretty much choose a class based on what I like the most visually and for fun I guess

For sure, I’d say choose a class depending on where you want to play too. I wouldn’t make a NB purely for BGs.

Choose it based on the theme. For example for a while NBs could be tanky but that changed, something like that could change but I doubt DKs will stop being tanky because that’s their flavour.

I’ve noticed forum goers are predominantly solo players by the way. They might not have a pvp guild for sharing ideas or whatever so there’s a definite solo perspective to opinions. That’s why I believe NBs are complained about more, when I feel they’re relatively weaker than other classes in most aspects of pvp.

I play a Magblade so my perspective might be a little bit class rumbling, but most mid-large size guilds see Stamblades as the weakest class and have for a while, while at the same time solo players were crying for NB nerfs.

Don’t underestimate defense too. Self healing and tankiness is extremely important in pvp. All good specs are usually part tank, healer and dps. It’s just once they have an acceptable amount of one sphere they invest the rest of their resources to their role.

I see what you mean, I can't say much about NBs, I know they're a cool class but I always like my characters to have flashy animations eheh.
I think I will do as you say, since I give more importance to mobility rather than tankiness I guess I'll try and play the stamina warden and see how it works for me.

You seem really knowledgeable about the game and I just have to thank you for your opinion! Totally unrelated question, what's your main class?

I have been playing since eso release and all I play is stamblade and a little of magblade. It’s a lot of fun I do love the class but imo nb really needs a buff to damage.

When I asked the same question - best advice I was given is to play each class to about level 20-ish, and see how you like it.

Done that, I suggest stamden - very versatile, great for solo and tons of fun in general. I'm leveling mine as bow/bow and even on level 22 I was able to solo a world boss just by kiting it with bear bro (that took a bit of time though).

For sure, I love having fun and winning is fun.

Only problem is fotm chasers never fully learn one class, but it’s somewhat made up for by knowing lots of classes.

All classes are unique in their own way and fun. I can tell you that I've had the most fun with my stamsorc and stamden. The skills of these two classes offer more gameplay options and I have always found them to be very robust classes.

Try different classes out, see which one you like best.

    Ultimately it is your decision.

Played primarily a stamblade, but I also have just created a stam necro. Its a lot different from a stamblade, still getting used to it. It feels like a hybrid of stamblade and a petsorc.

Hum, for a stamnecro that should change. I guess if you use the archer you’ll have a pet around.

I like Necro too but didn’t like how so many skills either have an effect or do damage. It’d be like if talons or fossilize didn’t do damage on DKs. It’s like they’re half budget but just as expensive as regular abilities.

Its taking time to get used to. The archer is what I was thinking of in the petsorc analogy. Its just a different style, with the cast times and all sorts of other non-traditional attacks. I like it, its just different.

Gotta respectfully disagree on this one Else. Next patch I believe stam templar and stam warden will be in the best spot. Sorc used to be the god tier but with the new shield scaling they seem very very easy to kill. Imo the S tier mag class right now is mag templar.

As far as stam nightblade they are still very strong for a stealth playstyle however they cant stand toe to toe with any other class any more.

Orc Stamsorc is what a melee class should be. Dark deal for decent heal/sustain, streak for escape/stun on stealthy types, bound armernment for passive 8% Stam increase, 20% health/Stam recovery and is getting a buff, and minor expedition with an armor buff and unpurgable DoT effect from Hurricane. And then there is the bonus 10% damage on full health targets. Warden has some pro's but is just outclassed by how the Sorc kit is perfected.

It depends on your playstyle. Stamsorc as a burst stamdps style works great. I just prefer warden versatility.

A stamwarden can tank pve and pvp, dps pve and pvp as ranged or melee. Plus they can pve and pvp heal. It’s really versatile which is awesome, you can tweak your spec and fit in anywhere, while a group of all stormsorcs will get rolled hard.
