Are there any other fantasy rpgmmos I can play now that dont nerf our characters every few months?

My partner and I have had enough of the nerfs. We rolled with the punches since launch but this is different. These more recent back and forth nerfs are the final straw.
I don't care for the forums police at this point as I am leaving eso once the patch goes live so if you disagree with my post I really dont care to read it. This is my post, make your own if you support this ridiculous upcoming patch.

I love the fantasy genre...was a huge lotro fan and harry potter fan too. It's the inner kid in me. I need a game that is more stable.
I dont want to play vanilla wow. I played wow for 10 years. It was an awesome game back in its time but i cant go back.
Same with lotro.I've loved eso for so many years and yes it breaks my heart to move on. I thought maybe some of you play multi games and can help me with some suggestions .

I need a fantasy rpgmmo not sci fi please and thanks in advance.

Yep, they do major overhauls only every 2 years (when the next expansions drop) and otherwise try to keep all classes in balance. They have fixed class system (4 tanks, 3 healers, 4 melee dps, 4 ranged dps, 4 magical dps).

You can download the Trial version for free. It only has some minor social interaction restrictions (the prevent bot famers from using it). You can level any base class/job to 35 with it.
Just don't buy/use the Steam version.

It took me a sec to get used to it, do NOT skip the story it’s extremely good..I love the pve, sadly i main pvp and that‘s the only part of eso i prefer

1 character can play all the jobs (classes) so you don’t have to mess around having a bunch of characters to play what you want

Did you tried Guild Wars 2 ? It's a good game with a lot of people, there's a free version you can test and extensions to buy after that. No sub. I played this game a lot before coming to ESO.

I'm not a big fan of these updates either, and have other issues that annoy(ed) me even worse.
First was faction lock, but could somewhat work around it (2 new toons).
Second is rapid manoeuver that frustrates me every day.

    Now concerning the damage nerfs:
I was as many others concerned when update 23 came, as most of my 9 toons are magicka based.

Nerf of AOE like elemental blockade.
I don't run trials and very rarely vet dungeons, but 9 world bosses every day, so was concerned.

Especially as it gets more and more difficult to find other players to fight a worldboss together (they spread to new DLC regions, or quit, e.g. summerset is deserted since elsweyr).

I can solo maybe 2/3 of them, but it is tough, and any further nerf could destroy my ability to beat them.

It turned out, that I still CAN beat them after the update. So it looked worse discussed in the forum than it actually was.
I even did not have to adjust a lot, like replacing elemental blockade with splitted soultrap.

So I would recommend not to panick yet.
Wait for the update, use your favourite toon and try to adjust some settings. Try out 1 or 2 other skills, adjust some champion points.
E.g. I first made the mistake to use 100 points to increase staff expert, and add nothing to weapon expert for my sorcerers. Seems I deal more damage though sharing points in both. CP add a lot to an achievement with the first 34 points, the other points afterwards increase a value less dramatic, so a 33/33/34 or 50/50 point strategy can give better results than investing all 100 into just one ability.

The patches are annoying but if you take a little time (without drastic steps like replacing a complete set), you might find out that you still can play your favourite content as usual.
Keep in mind, that other games have a lot of frustrating issues too.
Yes, I also look around for alternatives to ESO, but at moment I saw none that convinced me enough.

I wish Zos devs could be like this but instead we have devs that are changing every rotation/build every 2-3 month, They really think that we enjoy farming new sets memorizing new skill rotations every single patch.

Have you tested the first iteration of changes? I suggest you do that before leaving.

If you have actually gone on the PTS and still think your character has been nerfed enough to leave the game then I suggest playing a stand alone game.

All MMO's change regularly to keep people meta chasing, gear grinding to make old content beatable again and to keep people paying for convenience. They are, what they are.

Yeah, I'm currently looking for a new game to play too, which stinks because this has been my favorite game for three years now. I don't think I want another MMO, though. I won't leave ESO permanently, but I definitely need a break from it.
I'm tired of the constant bipolar changes. Several times a year is too much, and the changes are too drastic each time.
I'll stay here to see if those drastic changes make it into the live patch, though. Maybe a wiser head at ZOS will say "what the heck were you thinking?" to the lead developer who thought up those changes, and reduce their severity.
    I can hope, at least.

Not this often on regular basis and not this drastic on regular basis.

ZoS team refuses to give up trying to balance PvP & PvE and until they do this will never change and
in the process they will chase away all but the people who enjoy the game solely for atmosphere.

You go, ZoS team, you go!

As for PvP I would strongly recommend Conqueror's Blade. It's like everything we were promised about Cyrodill but much, much better.

Project 1999. An emulated vanilla Everquest server. They are launching a new server, Green, alongside the existing Red and Blue servers in October I believe.

Everquest is an old game with dated graphics, but it has 4 things ESO does not, in my opinion. Atmosphere, compelling tactical gameplay, large open zones, and a soul.

I really like ESO but its cramped zones, and lack of style and atmosphere have always kept it at No2 for me.

DDs still dish out too much damage for the content they're able to provide. Due to the ultra-casual majority of the game, they can't and won't adjust content, therefore they're nerfing players who play this game well.

Bah, there hasn't even been a good stand-alone since Witcher. I don't really care for the animation style of JRPGs. I've been an old Scroller since the beginning and been with ESO since closed beta. We were told that this would be a different type of MMORPG, one that was just as friendly to the solo PvE player as to the group PvPers. It was a grand vision and I think that the base game provided that. Today not so much.

Any RPG is based on events and character progression. Otherwise it is just a shooter. That is what ESO has devolved to today. With the removal of CP and no viable replacement we now have a shooter set in the Elder Scrolls universe. I haven't played a shooter since Bioshock. Not my thing.

Now we have rewards that force the PvE player to do PvP and vice versa. The IC event took a large hunk of enjoyment from my overall ESO game experience. The culprit is the continuation of the original link between the two disparate PvE and PvP environments. The same has happened with solo vs group endeavors. In the base we had some wonderfully epic multi party battles. The key was the game providing NPCs as the player's group. Elswhere has been delightful but even my enjoyment of it was diminished from the outset by the game requiring group dungeon content completion to set the storyline. That was a travesty.

Can the game be saved? Yes and no. As more and more dedicated players give up on it the game will give even more focus to recruitment of new players and move to a P2W formula to keep the cash rolling in. That is working well for Zenimax now but is not a sustainable model. The best course of action is to go ahead and split the majority of the game into PvE and PvP only. At a certain level, 10, 25, 50, whatever, the player must choose which direction that toon must go. No switching back and forth. This would ease both game design and balance for the devs and free the player from the frustration of having their character nerfed for no good reason. It would enhance player retention and even create potential new revenue streams for ZOS.

Additionally we desperately need a new base game. Other games of this variety do this. Think of the positive changes from EQ1 to EQ2. I dare say that there would be far more purchases of an ESO2 than there were of the original. It could be both a profit bomb and a player pleaser.

One can hope that the game will move into new, creative, fun, and profitable ventures. Otherwise it will be just milked into death.

A lot of my friends are on FF14 now. I really love it, the base game is super fetchy and slow but once you get to expansion content (Heavensward, Stormblood, Shadowbringers) it's such a different game because you unlock more abilities and the story really comes together. Shadowbringers has the best story in an MMO I've played. FF has a free trial. I also liked gw2. Like other people have mentioned gw2's base game is free and it has horizontal progression like ESO. It was boring for me after getting to max level (I like FF more) but exploration in GW2 was great and there's no sub, it's easy to come back when there's free DLC. WoW classic is also out there and a couple of ESO guildies are playing that but I haven't tried it.

I'm not much of a gamer ( only play ESO ) but I feel your pain. Years ago ESO did something that totally made me want to play something else. I turned around and purchased a game that was being worked on ( not even in beta ) and I'm sure I will be giving that life time sub to someone when the game is released. I don't think i will be playing any game after ESO.

I suggest playing BDO. I've never played it and never will but I've heard a few respectable people like it.

I've been playing BDO also and it's pretty fun. You do have to buy a couple of pets to help you loot, but other then that, it's a reasonable for a MMO. If you wait for a sale, about every other month, it'll cost $65. (That's including buying the pets to loot for you.) Now if you're one of those that just has to be in the top 4% or 5% of PvPers or Dungeon trial raiders, then you'll have to spend some real $$$$ to get to that level.
