Of groups and dungeons and quests..

So, I've been experiencing this a lot lately on either new dungeons or dungeons I have just somehow never had the chance to get into..

I'll be in a group, doing the dungeon and it's possible I'm the only person doing the quest. We complete the dungeon, the quest marker says to "talk to so and so" after sitting through some NPC dialogue with eachother. The problem is, at least 3 times now, my groupmates (all PUGs) have left the group by this point to continue on their journey - and the system gives me the little circle countdown telling me I'm being removed from the dungeon because I'm not in a group, and therefore I don't get to complete the quest. The next time I go into that dungeon, the entire instance has been reset and I have to complete the quest all over again.

So, either ZOS needs to pop the quest completion on the last "kill" of the quest or they need to get rid of this silly idea that I'm not "allowed" to be in that dungeon anymore if I'm not in a group. The latter is even more ridiculous when you can actually go into a dungeon solo outside of a group. Makes no sense, really.

I always announce at the start of the dungeon that I am doing the quest. Someone usually will stick around when I do that. I also extend the same courtesy if someone announces that they are doing the quest or if I notice them stopping to to talk to npcs. But I agree, there should be no reason for you to be kicked out when everyone else leaves. Since you can enter any dungeon solo. If you want to sit in there all day you should be able to. Don't know what the reason is for the kick out would be since it's seems to do more harm than good for questers.

It would be nice if you had at minimum an appropriate amount of time to finish your quest assuming everyone leaves right away. Yes, all that lore and dialogue is great when you have time for it. Dungeons simply aren't the place for it right now by design. ZOS should either allow you to stay in and finish it or reduce all the talky talk npc's at the end to allow for a speedy finish if needed. Yes, it would be nice if at least one group member stays in to allow others to finish and I often try to do this myself, but mechanically, you should be able to at least finish the quest assuming all players leave at the earliest opportunity that the game allows and this isn't possible in every dungeon.

I also always stick around just in case someone is doing a quest - and in case someone is looking for gear that may have dropped. I find quite a few folks just wanna speed through and leave asap, though. :(

I've seen it both ways on Console I've seen people stay around and wait and I've had people actually put in chat haha good luck with your quest next time so it's really just a matter of the population and rather if they're toxic or not but I do agree that the system itself should be made so that when a group disbands any quests in play you should be allowed to stay in the dungeon to finish

I would rather see them add story mode. It would be the perfect solution. Not only could we actually take our time with the dungeons and experience the story for once, we wouldn't end up in these kinds of situations.

Agree. If I'm the one with the quest, I say so up front. If I'm not the one with the quest, I ask in group chat if anyone is doing it before I port out.

This. I always ask at the start if anyone is questing, or announce that I am when pugging.

Guess I'm beating the odds or playing at times when the d-bag population is low. This has never happened to me. The radio silence, all three port out has. But not this

They'll stick around to let you complete the quest by talking to the npc for quest turn-in (or you can do it in the 30 seconds or so you have when everyone leaves) but they probably won't wait for you to talk to people or experience the story during the run.
If you're someone trying to experience the quest at all, usually it's futile. They'll rush ahead to kill the next mob, pushing the quest progress forward. You'll miss out on all the dialog and scenes and stuff.

They really need a proper solo story mode or redesign how the quest bits happen because right now it's all wasted effort on their part.

Most people are going to leave the dungeon as soon as the pledge is done or the final boss is killed. So, I see no reason for ZOS to set the Kick Out Timer to say 5 minutes. That should be enough time to get all the final dialog in on the last boss.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

PakKat "Everything was going well, until I died"
Gary Gravestink "I am glad you died, I needed the help"

    PTS Patch Notes:

    Dungeons
Adjusted the "Removing from Area" timer when leaving an instance group. The timer is now 2 minutes when leaving a completed instance to allow for more time for quest turn ins and such.

In my experience I guess I just seem to reap what I sow in that case. Never had that experience. I play pc and Xbox... On both platforms there's always at least one person willing to hold on for me, and I've often been the last to leave for others.

With all the existing threads on this issue, you've picked a strange time to make a new one. ZOS have just announced changes over on the PTS that give you 2 minutes to finish your stuff before giving you the boot at the end of a dungeon. That won't help with dialogue during the dungeon, but it's something.

As others have said, let your mates know you're doing the quest. Most groups will be happy to wait a few seconds. The ones that won't, well... that can't really be helped.
